ChatGPT's been known to produce completely made-up answers. When this happens, it's called a 'hallucination.' It's a lot less common now that the models are more advanced, but it can definitely still happen. ChatGPT will often cite the sources it used to inform its response—this way, you can easily fact-check what it said. If it doesn't automatically provide sources, you can also prompt ChatGPT to tell you where it got its information from.

All users can use DALL·E 3 (it's integrated with ChatGPT) to generate AI images. Free users will have very limited access to it, though.

These are the main models ChatGPT uses right now (you can pick your model if you're on a paid plan): GPT-4o is good for general tasks. GPT-4.5 has a broader knowledge base and is expected to hallucinate less. o1 excels at processing prompts that require logical reasoning and generating code (powered by OpenAI's o1 model). o3-mini also excels at processing complex prompts, but is powered by OpenAI's o3 model and optimized for speed. o3-mini-high is similar to o3-mini, but it offers high reasoning effort (ideal for coding). o1 pro mode provides more reliable responses but takes longer to process
