Whenever ChatGPT generates content that is all nicely formatted and I try and copy it out into word, google docs, notes…anything, it looses all formatting and just turns into a mess of words. I’ve tried work around with using html but that is just such a stuff around.
Anyone got any tips on how I can take exactly what ChatGPT produces and copy it elsewhere whilst maintaining its formatting, layout etc…?

Ask ChatGPT to write a macro for MS word that restores the formatting. You paste your text, it comes out as a mess. You run the macro it's nice again. Or just ask it to offer you the text as a downloadable word document. Click the download link. Open the word document. All there. Like stated earlier in the comments here: Let it write on canvas. Copy, paste, done.

Ok for Google Docs here's how I did it - tell chatgpt to output the response in Markdown format. Then drag and highlight all the text (don't use the copy button on button). Put the ChatGPT window right next to the Docs windows on your screen. Now with the text highlighted, just left click hold and DRAG the text from ChatGPT to Docs. I have no idea why they made it this difficult!

Ask ChatGPT to give the output in a code block. ( I specified "like an md file"). Then you can use the copy-paste feature that it has for copying code. It also doesn't format it in a blue/white box.
I asked it to give a template for a cover letter. Easier The bluish box is when you highlight and copy. The bottom one is when you turn into code.Sorry if anyone has already posted about this (I will take the post down if someone has). I couldn't find anything related to this.

It’s a nice workaround. Thx. Copy to clipboard is really something openAI needs to do in-house. There was a nice chrome extension for copy to clipboard but since this bug with our history disappearing the extension doesn’t work anymore.
