I purchased a few off Amazon (new/referbs) being more than happy with my purchases. I did my homework prior (reading reviews, checking seller's legitimacy, return/warranty policies, etc) in hopes of giving me the best chance of success, so far no complaints. But like anything it doesn't always go as planned so there is a certain level of risk, yet with Amazon's awesome return policy it should be relatively painless if something does go awry. I'd look for a used phone from somewhere like Swappa, BackMarket, Amazon Warehouse, Amazon (also has some refurbished phones). If you want to stay with Cricket it's worth it to see what they have on offer online. Sometimes there are better deals online. I can see on the Cricket website they have an iPhone 12 for $100. Ebay usually has better prices if you want an unlocked phone. I have only purchased open box phones after I carefully check feedback. Amazon not always but sometimes has more unique harder to find phones mainly older international models with dual sim in certain colors.
