I just bought a recliner with powered lift for an aging parent. I have also repaired LazBoy chairs with EBay sourced parts. My big suggestion is that there is a huge variety in recliners....I would not buy one unless I could try it in person before purchasing. Each recliner fits different body styles; the actual sizes vary tremendously.

As someone who has used recliners exclusively while gaming for well over 15 years. You get what you pay for. And this holds more true with furniture than it does with most other things. I spent many years buying low cost recliners that would just break in one way or the other in under a year. I used them every day for about an hour or two. I weighed about 260 at the time (currently 199 yah!). Time after time the fabric would rip, or the mechanical doodads inside would break, or the fake leather would peel. Most often the filling would just squish down within a few months and I’d start feeling the wood frame on my back and bum. The build is cheap at that cost. But I didn’t learn my lesson. Until one day, on my 7th or 8th recliner I decided I had enough. I spent $800 on a lazy boy. Haven’t had a problem in over 5 years. Looks and works as well as it did on day one. There’s no comparing the build quality. I’m not saying don’t buy a $200 recliner if you want to mess around and try one out. Just know that it won’t last. You’ll be looking to replace it sooner than you’d like. I would save my money a while longer. Spend it on a high quality brand and it’ll last you a hell of a lot longer. Your wallet, back and ass will thank you. As for where I got cheap recliners, mostly at local furniture stores. Or stores like Big Lots, Walmart, etc. More on reddit.com
