My mom's place will need major renovations. We need to clear out a lot of space for the contractor(s) to get work done. She's somewhat of a hoarder, so I'm going to have to rent a storage locker/room for the copious amounts of junk that she refuses to throw out.
Any recommendations for affordable storage in Vancouver or Burnaby?
EDIT: Sorry, I should be more clear. What's the cheapest storage place in Burnaby, New Westminster, Coquitlam, or Richmond that has an elevator, or all ground floor storage units? A friend of mine suggested a low priced place but I'd have to lug carry the stuff up and down stairs.
Anyone know free/cheap storage. I am willing to go as far as abbtsford or Langley I just need some space for storing furniture temporarily. I’m ok to put a small tent if necessary to cover up if no cover is available for this season
Just looking online and the going rate for a small (5x5) storage unit seems to be around $120/month+
Is that just the minimum rates now or does anyone know of any places that are safe, but cheaper?
Storguard (either Burnaby or Richmond location) has closet size units for about $80/month.
Key Storage nearby Boundary Rd is a bit pricier, but it comes with a newer security system and industry freight sized elevators, as well as an enclosed loading bay garage.
Guardian in Mt Pleasant has a Groupon promo rate for their 5'x4' 'upper' locker units for $60/month, which you can further discount by $12 once with a 20% off code. But their back alley loading bay is awfully dirty (from nesting birds pooping all over) on top of being uncomfortably inclined. To boot, you'll have to put up with schlepping all your things up and down their warehouse ladder.
Check Yaletown storage. They are way cheaper than the competition.
Hey r/vancouver,
It seems crazy how expensive some of the storage lockers are in vancouver ($150+/month for a regular sized storage locker?!)
Have any of you found some gems further out (tri-cities, langley/abbotsford/surrey, even chilliwack) that make the drive worth it? Im considering long term self storage so there wont be frequent pick ups and drop offs
A friend of mine found a cheap one beside the freeway in Abbottsditch-someone broke in & stole everything he owned.
I just moved some stuff into Vancouver Self Storage near 70th and Granville
300 ish per month but you get an 8x8x20 shipping container, carded access from 7 till 9
Not super cheap but if you have a lot of stuff, it isnt too bad
I know they have smaller units but I dont know how much they are
Need to use one for a few months to sort out the logistics of a move, has anyone had any good experiences with one? Or is it the bait and switch after your first month? Don't need to have 24 hour access nor have it out in the middle of nowhere.
Edit: staying in Vancouver, currently in Olympic village going to east van
Hey everyone, I just wrapped up my college year, and I'm now on the hunt for a storage location in Vancouver to store my luggage for the summer. I'm not from here, so I'm not familiar with the area and I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction. I've done some research and read some reviews, but I'm hoping to get some recommendations from locals who have personal experience with storage options in the area.
I'm planning on storing my luggage for about 4-5 months until September. I don't need anything fancy, just a safe and secure place to store my belongings. Ideally, I would like something affordable as I'm on a student budget.
Any recommendations or tips would be greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance.
Hi guys, myself and my partner are heading into the interior with work this Summer. We have our winter tires and 5 or 6 boxes of stuff we need to store somewhere. Wondering if anyone had any space or idea's on a way we could find storage without paying the extortionate rates for container/storage rental. Again it's just for the summer, Craigslist is also pretty thin except for parking spaces!
Hi. I have a large detached garage building on my property in Langley (close to 200st and 72ave). Would happily store your stuff for $100/month. Send me a PM!
I pay 115$ a month for storage and I don’t think that’s anything crazy. That’s probably what I’d charge someone storing their stuff on my property if I had a secure, climate controlled garage.
Anyone recommend a self storage facility that’s reasonably priced? 5x5 or 5x10 and it doesn’t need to be in Vancouver. Anywhere within an hour drive from Vancouver is fine.
Anyway, how much is it monthly if you guys know? Most storage facilities asks me to send an email which takes too much time when I’m still shopping around. Thanks.
I've been calling and emailing SO MANY storage places to get rates and check availability. Because I have to do that with every storage place, it's taking me a long time only to find out the prices are either extremely high or the type of unit I want isn't available.
Does anyone use or know of a storage place that is somewhat affordable? I'm looking just for a basic unit, maybe 50sqft at most. I don't want to spend above $150 per month, which I haven't been able to find yet.
Thanks for any suggestions!
No, sorry. I know people paying around $350/mo for a 5x10 downtown.
Call further out in to the suburbs for lower rates. Be prepared to commute to your storage unit for the kind of savings you're looking for.
Are you strictly set for Vancouver?
Cuz you should be able to find cheaper units in regions such as Surrey and Eastward.
My friend rents storage space at Maple Leaf storage, and she just got a call that a bunch of the units got compromised by someone entering through the admittedly fragile wire mesh at the top of the units. Has anyone experienced this before, how common is it? She's understandably freaked out and has been asked to come in and check if hers is one of the compromised units. One would think they'd have some kind of alarm system up there to keep people from traipsing above the lockers. Does anyone know if any of the storage companies have a more secure configuration? Big Steel Box isn't an option due to no loading area where she lives.
Anyone have a storage facility they recommend and is priced lower? I need a place to store a bed, a desk and some boxes for a month and I hate calling around blind asking for prices. It would help to have some recommendations first.
Thank you!
I probably wouldn't need more than a small closet to hold my stuff. But my boyfriend and I are thinking of travelling abroad for a few months and have no where to put our stuff in the mean time. Was wondering if anyone else has been in a similar situation? I've been looking at storage lockers, but a lot of them seem to be a bit too big for what we need. I don't really want to go through the hassle of selling everything we own again. I've looked through old posts in r/vancouver and can't seem to find this specific question answered. I don't mind driving out somewhere a bit away. I'd probably need maybe 3x3' of storage, or less if that helps
Looking to buy tent, portable stove, sleeping bag, etc.
Looking to store some boxes for a year for under $100/month! Anywhere in Metro Vancouver is okay.
Hey all,
I'm moving to Vancouver in about a months time, but will be there for work a week prior to moving into my apartment.
I want to take a couple suitcases of stuff when I fly over for work and store it somewhere for about a week. Are there any good options that you know of?
Thanks in advance.
I have a few boxes and luggage bags I want to store for a couple of months.
Moving to LA and wonder if anyone has any tips about how to find affordable self storage? I'm a little taken aback by the prices, but maybe they are high everywhere… Haven't done this in a long time. willing to store on the outskirts if it's a lot cheaper.
