I’ve done research and I still can’t find a solid option. I don’t want to spend more then 1k and it gotta have at least a 3050 and like 16g of ram… I keep doing research and everywhere I go people say it’s bad so I’m clueless right now.
I don't have anywhere for a desktop and I'm on a budget so what would be a good cheap budget gaming laptop that will run most games decently?

Hey everyone! I’m looking to buy a laptop that I’ll use mainly for programming, university work, and some gaming. So far, I’ve been considering options like the Lenovo LOQ.
From what I’ve gathered, I should be aiming for at least 16GB DDR5 RAM, SSD storage, and a 144Hz display. For the GPU, I’m looking at something like the RTX 4050 or better.
I don’t game heavily, and when I do, it’s usually on less demanding titles—but I’d still like the option to play more intensive games like The Witcher or God of War if I ever feel like it.
Are there any important specs I might be overlooking? Any good value recommendations around this performance tier would be appreciated!
Total budget (in local currency) and country of purchase. Please do not use USD unless purchasing in the US: -Max $300 US dollars
Are you open to refurbs/used? -Yes
How would you prioritize form factor (ultrabook, 2-in-1, etc.), build quality, performance, and battery life? -I don’t care as much about picture quality clarity, but want it to be able to run Steam games. I love playing horror games like Little Nightmares and Five Nights At Freddie’s and Resident Evil 4 and want the opportunity to tr more Indie horror games that are not on the Switch and PlayStation.
How important is weight and thinness to you? -I don’t care either way about weight and thinness.
Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A. -Bigger is better, if possible, maybe 14 inches would be good, if feasible.
Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run. -I will be running Steam and playing random Indie games and horror games like Broken Veil, One Way Home, Reanimal, Little Nightmares 3, and Out of Sight. Preferably a laptop that I can hook up a controller to, like a Play Station controller would be nice.
If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? -I listed some games above, and don’t mind picture quality too much, as long as it runs smoothly (no lagging, if possible) and doesn’t look super pixely.
Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)? -Not really.
Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion. -I was looking into HP 14 Premium HD Portable Laptop Computer Students Business, Quad-Core Intel Celeron Processor, 16GB RAM, 256GB Storage(128GB eMMC+ 128GB Ghost Manta SD Card), 1 Year Office 365, HDMI, Win 11. This is exactly what it’s titled as on Amazon and it’s $299 US dollars. I read on another page that this could be a good cheap laptop for gaming and wanted to get suggestions and opinions from someone who knows more about computers than I do since I’ve bought quite a few lemons in the past when it comes to laptops and am wary about buying one due to this.
Thank you so much for any assistance anyone can give me, I appreciate it! And yes, I know this is a small amount of money for a laptop, I’m sorry! But due to medical bills, right now this is all I can afford. Thank you!
PS: If possible, please, no Chromebooks, they drive me a bit crazy haha!
So this just happened and it’s really my final straw with Apple. I’m not a huge gamer, I mostly just like to play Minecraft and Overcooked, cozy games. However, Macbooks can only handle so much. I’ve been doing research on gaming laptops but they all look like more than I need. I don’t even know if I should get a gaming laptop or just a regular laptop that is better than Macs. Please help I’m about to lose my sanity.
Hi there :)
Just wanted to get some people’s opinions on the cheapest gaming laptops available
This also includes pre-owned prices
I’m not like super picky with graphics and stuff just want a laptop that can run windows 11 and some steam games.
Thanks so much!
So, after researching for a few hours I found these two laptops on sale in my closest best buy, and I wanted to know if these are good deals, or too good to be true. I have a very limited budget and I was looking for an affordable laptop that isn't too expensive and that has a graphics card.
The maximum amount of money I'm considering to spend is 700 dollars, but I would strongly prefer a laptop for a bit less. If the laptop is reeeally good for 700 dollars then of course, it would be just fine.
Are open box versions of these laptops worth the cheaper price?
Any suggestions are very much appreciated :)
Has a 144hz display. Ram can be upgraded. Has a 144hz display. Ram can be upgraded.Topic says everything , please say a reliable one because im really worried to buy my first gaming laptop
I want everyone to know that its pretty much impossible for me to save more than that.Im a teenager who currently has 300 dollars but im genuinely looking for a laptop to play games with my friends and use it for study.I am open to second hand if u have some thoughts or some tips
I don't have much but something between 300 and 600 usd for something that could play most games that would help me a whole bunch this would be my first one and I don't wanna spend a thousand or more.
Gonna be my first gaming laptop after years of primarily using a PC. Budget should be around 800-900usd.
I don’t play AAA games. At most, I’ll play GTA V, 2K, and COD but usually I just play Dota or CS2.
Need the build quality to last until 2028 (when I’m done with school).
So I am interested in buying a laptop. Now I mostly play on console and steam deck as PC gaming isn't really my thing. I decided to get a cheap laptop for games that aren't on consoles but also don't play well on Steam Deck either because of controls (Old games or PC control centric ones like Sims or Fallout 1/2) or games that don't work well with Linux.
I however want to keep my laptop future proof as in not a complete potato in case I need extra beef for whatever reason?
What should a PC gaming noob look into when buying a laptop for gaming? What models should I avoid? What models are good? Right now I am currently looking at Lenovo IdeaPad Gaming 3 as it's cheap and powerful but the reviews are divided mostly related to build quality.
Thank you in advance!
Also did you regret buying a laptop instead of a PC?
I need recommendations for a cheap gaming laptop. My budget is a $600 to $800. Preferably one that can run GTA V, Minecraft with mod-packs, MHW and other similar games. The FPS doesn’t have to be 64 fps but hopefully enough to run those games without major lag.
Dad here, looking for a cheap somewhat gaming laptop for me to play World of Warcraft on. I don’t need all the bells and whistles.
Help?
That’s wow classic also, the easier to run one.
Acer Nitro 5 or HP Victus 15.6 2 decent entry level gaming laptops.
Getting a high level budget laptop with 16gb ram, Iris xe graphics and new i7 is decent. The IdeaPad Slim 5 I is worth a look. Staples has some good items.
I don't know much about computers or laptops but I do want to get a good laptop to start off with that I can start using steam and mods. It'll be a big learning curve unless I get a controller to use with it but I feel like it'll be better than console just based on the sheer amount of games available on PC rather than console. I watch ppl on YouTube playing a bunch of games I wish I could.
I'm looking into buying myself a nice bday gift right now and I want to get a gaming laptop. I'm not loaded or anything so I just wanted to see if anyone knows of anything under $700?(Or lower) I just want it to be able to handle sims 4 with added mods and maybe some other MMO games.
Update: I am in the US, just in case that helps.
I need a new laptop and I’ve always wanted a gaming laptop. I currently have an old ass Macbook that I can’t play squat on it.
Any recommendations for laptop models/brands that will cost me around/under $1200?? :,)
I’ve been browsing but I don’t know a lot about computers or what to look for really. I want a computer I can download and play a lot of ‘big sized’ games on (like World of Warcraft, League of Legends, and a bunch of other mmos and rpgs), have it run smoothly, and I’m open to buying additional storage drives for it.
Other cool features besides gaming capabilities are appreciated <3 Thank youuu
Hey, my laptop is completely cooked, and I need a new one ASAP. Looking for something in the $500-$600 range that can handle gaming decently. I play AAA titles and competitive shooters like Rainbow Six Siege, so a good display and solid performance are priorities. Open to refurbs if it's a great deal, but I'd prefer something new. Any recommendations?
Total budget (in local currency) and country of purchase:
$500-$600, purchasing in the US.
How would you prioritize form factor (ultrabook, 2-in-1, etc.), build quality, performance, and battery life?
Performance > Build Quality > Battery Life > Form Factor.
How important is weight and thinness to you?
Not a priority. A bit of weight is fine as long as performance is solid.
Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A.
15-16 inches preferred. Open to 14 inches if the specs are good.
Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run.
Mostly gaming. No CAD or professional editing.
If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want?
Want to play AAA games at medium to high settings with smooth FPS. Also play Rainbow Six Siege and other competitive shooters, so a 120Hz+ display would be nice.
