Here’s my issue. I love Publix. I was born and raised on Publix, I worked for them for 12 years, my husband still works for them and it pays our bills as a family of 4 on one income, and we are comfortable. But I’m still trying to save money, ya know? I’ve moved over to shopping at aldi for the most part. Sometimes Walmart. But nothing beats the quality (to me) of Publix meat and produce. Whenever I buy from Walmart or aldi, it goes bad quick or there’s at least one rotten thing in the bag. I end up spending more money just replacing the things that go bad too quick with Publix anyway. Are there any options I’m overlooking that might have just as quality produce and meat items as Publix that aren’t Walmart or aldi? I will say I haven’t tried Walmart for meats, but if people have good experience, I’m willing to try. I’ve also tried target produce with the same issues.

Hello! I am from Georgia in the US, and I would like some advice on where to buy meat, even in bulk, the cheapest?
Prices have gone crazy! I used to buy the 5-6LB ground beef at Costco for $25-$30 and now it’s at least $36. I buy in bulk, portion it, and freeze it (I live alone and hate wasting food).
Any advice? Most of what I heard is Costco but I don’t know if it’s a hype thing or if it’s realistically the cheapest.
I have nearly every grocery store (in my region) within range: Aldi, Lidl, Whole Foods, Walmart, Sprouts, Trader Joe’s, Kroger, Publix, etc. Much appreciated!!
I usually buy at Giant, Safeway, or Trader Joe’s. Price, quality, and availability are all depending factors. Personally, I hate buying meat at Giant and Safeway because it seems like they’re always wiped out.
I feed my pets fresh meat, and go through about 25# per week, so I try to keep it to cuts less than $2/#. I mostly get it from Peoria Packing, but am wondering if there are other places with a good selection that are consistently equally or lower priced. I live on the NW side but will 100% drive for good deals.
I have to go grocery shopping sometime this weekend. But grocery prices are so expensive lately. What would you say the cheapest grocery stores are for meats? The only grocery stores I have around me are Walmart, Meijers, and Krogers. But I'd be willing to go to a butcher if they have cheaper meats.
I’m on the NW side of Chicago. Aldi tends to have the best prices unless your bulk buying (although I’ve had some issues with quality), Costco can be a nightmare to get in & out, and Jewel is kinda pricy.
What’s the best value you have seen for general grocery purchases?
Where is the best selection of meat (but especially beef) among grocery stores on the north side? The best quality I’ve found is at whole foods but it can be $40+ for two ribeyes. I’m pregnant and iron and protein deficient and the only thing that takes away my nausea is meat, especially beef lol. I’m not used to eating meat every day and am really struggling to find affordable, quality options. I want to make stews, pot roasts, maybe pork roasts etc. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Just moved to the West Village and looking for supermarkets with good sales. Cheap produce/Meat Markets.
