Cheapest Shipping to Canada: Save on USA & Local - Jack Cooper
November 5, 2025 - Finding the cheapest shipping to Canada isn’t just about choosing the right carrier. A few smart habits can help you cut costs every time you send a package. Compare carriers with online calculators: Most carriers have free shipping calculators on their websites. Use them to check rates before you buy a label. This makes it easy to see which option saves the most money. Use flat-rate boxes and prepaid labels: Flat-rate shipping is most effective when sending heavy items in smaller containers.

Hey folks! Does anyone have experience with buying bulk mailing/shipping boxes from a local (or within Canada) wholesaler? I’m looking for a large amount of small corrugated, all-black boxes and Amazon is pricy. Any suggestions/ insight is helpful! Thanks :)

For those in Ontario, and who use shipping boxes, do you have a good source for mid sized ones? I purchased some smaller ones on Amazon, that are great for 1-2 clothing items, depending on the items, and tracked down a few Studio Post 11.9” x 15” x 3.7” at my local Dollarama for $3.50, but it seems their stock has dried up. Canada Post sells the same ones in store, but I think they’re $4.99 each.

I put a call out on my community's buy nothing page on Facebook. Subsequently I get more packing materials on an ongoing basis than I'll ever know what to do with - boxes, padded mailers, bubble wrap, air packs... the only thing I have to buy anymore is packing tape (and sometimes I can even get a bit of that). Honestly, people are SO happy to give that stuff away instead of putting it in the recycling or garbage - they're elated it will be used again!

It warms my environmentalist heart that so many comments here are about reusing shipping materials. I've made 500+ sales and the only shipping materials I've purchased are packing tape, printer paper and ink.

There's less risk of damage because these boxes don't have as many, or any, contact points - i.e. bumps and bruises - with heavier ground shipments. It is more expensive than economical or ground services so you'll have to weigh the tradeoffs. No doubt about it, the cheapest way to ship luggage, especially heavy luggage is by using ground service.

Cheapest way to ship packages within Canada?! : r/halifax
October 28, 2023 - Boxes are cheaper from uline, not the CPC boxes. ChitChats isn't great from Halifax either, you have to deliver the stuff to a 3rd party business, last time I looked 1 in hfx, 1 in burnside, 1 in lower sackville. I know for us, we don't do this due to the nature of what we are selling/value of packages. For us, the reality is that we had to pass the cost of shipping to the customer, although we do subsidize it, so canada we ship for flat $25, and US flat $35.
