Hello!! I am an artist who is looking to expand beyond twitter commissions and i would love to have a website with a newsletter.
Im looking into options right now, and i was wondering if anyone here knows what the best combination of cheap domain + a business email + website builder is?

Im currently using carrd (free) for my site. i could upgrade to pro for $19/year, buy a domain and connect it to carrd and get a business email to use Sender (generous free plan) to start a newsletter, im missing a few puzzle pieces, or if anyone knows a better way to do this please let me know! thank you :)

Most of the websites I’m seeing (Shopify, squarespace, Wordpress) seem to be about $25 per month. Has anyone found anything cheaper? I would like to do sales through the website. I have a small woodworking business and I’m not sure if it would be worth it for me to pay 25 bucks a month. I also don’t have an issue with creating it all from scratch if that is a possibility.

So I’m in the process of starting up a business and I’m planning on creating my own website. What I’m most concerned with is making my site look professional and driving traffic to it.

I’ve heard good things about Wordpress so I checked it out but I’m hesitant to go through with it because of the cost.

It costs $300 (25/month) for a business plan. It’s not that it’s too expensive, but I’m trying to avoid paying so much upfront if that’s a possibility. However, if it’s worth it, I’ll definitely do it.

Anyways, any recommendations or advice would be greatly appreciated!

Just started a small business (s-corp) and wondering what the best/cheapest/easiest way to create a website is. I created the S-corp via LegalZoom, which connected me to Wix, which charges about 14 or 15 a month, but was wondering whether there are any cheaper/free options.

Related to the same, I'd like to create a Gmail account for the business. Does that cost any money? And would any issues arise if I decided to do so and build a website using something other than one of the more mainstream/expensive website builders (e.g. Squarespace or Wix)?

What are the best website builders for small businesses? I’m starting a small business and now looking for the best website builders to create my own website. I want it to look professional and also help drive traffic. I plan to build the site myself, so I’m searching for a builder that’s easy to use but flexible enough for future needs.

I’ve been reading about different companies, but it’s confusing. Many seem good at first, but I’ve heard some business owners say that certain website builders don’t work well with HTML, or have limitations because they use drag-and-drop systems. I don’t want to face issues like that later.

I have a few questions:

  • What is the best website builder for small businesses?

  • Are there any good free website builders?

  • Should I go with a custom-built site or use a drag-and-drop builder?

  • Any website builders you recommend based on personal experience?

Any tips or advice would be super helpful! I want to pick a platform that works well long-term and won’t give me problems once my business grows. Thanks in advance!

I’m in the early stages of launching a small business and need to get a website up soon. My two biggest priorities are making it look professional and actually driving traffic to it, no point in a pretty site if nobody visits it.

I’ve looked into WordPress (the Business Plan is $300/year), and while it seems powerful, I’m hesitant to commit that much upfront. Not because it’s outrageously expensive, but I’m wondering if there’s a better starting point that doesn’t involve paying a full year in advance.

Are there platforms that offer a good mix of design flexibility and marketing tools, especially ones that don’t break the bank? I’ve seen people mention Shopify, Squarespace, and even working with digital agencies like Clectiq for more customized setups. I’m open to anything that balances affordability and growth potential.

Would love to hear what’s worked for you or your business. Thanks!

I am increasingly being asked what is the cheapest and easiest way to get a website up. These are brochure sites with modest needs that can't afford a robust solution or a developer. These are typically solopreneur or gig work stuff like; catering, pressure washing, fence building, or even auto body shops. These are not technical people, and just want something that looks nice and is easy to update.

There are lots of great platforms that could do this for $20/month or more, and often increase after the first year. Most of these businesses are not profitable or operating yet, so it needs be as cheap (>$10/mo) as possible or wont be sustainable for them.

Two very cheap options that seem suitable are web.com or hostinger.com but there are many others. I also see mixed reviews at this price point. Can you fine folks suggest your preferred service that could fill this need?

Most of the big names like Webflow and Squarespace are kind of pricey.

Are there any no-code builders that have affordable monthly plans but still look professional?

I’ve seen Hostinger, Durable, and Weebly.

They all seem to look good but I haven’t personally tried any of them.

I just need a homepage, about page, and contact form if I ever pick one.

Which one do you use and why? Help me out. Thanks!

The best website builder for you depends on your technical skills and goals. I personally prefer open source software like WordPress because it gives me full control over my code and content. If you use a platform like Wix, it can be difficult or impossible to move to a different platform later on. In other words, the short-term gain of an easy editor can lead to long-term pain that will require an entire site rebuild.

Here are a couple of other options to consider:

  • WordPress: This is a popular and versatile platform that offers a wide range of features and customization options. You can host your WordPress site on a variety of providers, personally I love DreamHost, they're employee owned, products are solid no matter what stage your company is at, and their entry level plans start at around $2 per month. https://dreamhost.com/wordpress.

  • WordPress + Elementor: This is a powerful combination that allows you to create a visually stunning website without writing any code. Elementor is a drag-and-drop page builder that makes it easy to add elements to your pages, and it integrates seamlessly with WordPress. They even have managed WP hosting not that makes the setup so easy: https://elementor.com/pages/elementor-wordpress-hosting.

  • Webflow: This is another closed-source platform that is designed by designers for designers. It offers a wide range of features and customization options, but it can be more expensive than other platforms. Their products and templates are great and they do have a free trial to test it out: https://webflow.com/free-trial.

Ultimately, the best way to choose a website builder is to consider your needs, technical abilities and budget.

I hope this helps!

I have used different website builders. But I have found Squarespace is one of the best website builder because it is very easy to use and it has involved many beautiful templates and quality features. If you want to use website builder for blogging and product selling then, it would be perfect choice.

r/smallbusiness on Reddit: Website Builder recommendations and I already have my own domain
May 21, 2025 -

Hi there,

I need recommendations on good and fairly easy website builders that will take a domain I already own and use that. I need something that would be good for photo and video portfolios and would be good to build a sleek and fairly minimalist website for a cheap price. I'm literally just starting out here and do not have a lot of money on my side, and this is more for a portfolio more than it is a business website with transactions.

I have some experience using the old WordPress hosting, but that was just horrible to use in my opinion and really would likes something easier. I'm not a huge fan of AI, so something that's got a graphical interface that's got an easy to use drag-and-drop functionality it more my speed. I'm not a programmer, so something that keeps me away from code as much as possible would be nice.

Any suggestions?

Hey, everyone.

I'm currently in the processing of starting my own business (completely online), and I need a good website builder.

Coding a website isn't currently an option. I would just like recommendations STRICTLY on website builders, and what the best ones are for the price. And what kind of prices am I looking at ?

I've heard both wonderful and not-so-great things for every website builder out there: Shopify, Squarespace, Wix, etc...

I also heard that Shopify charges you per payment transaction? Not too sure, but I believe I read that somewhere.

I would love something offering simple and clean layouts, is user-friendly, and something I can also add subscription options to (e.g think monthly subscription boxes for clients), if I end up going that route eventually.

I live in Quebec, if this helps anything.

Thank you everyone! I appreciate any/all advice 🥰
