No to everything other people are recommending. You’re not a web expert, and that’s okay. You need something easy to use, affordable, and beautiful. My recommendation is to go with Squarespace. It will offer everything you need. And you can purchase s domain name through Squarespace so you don’t have figure out the complexities of DNS and other nerd stuff. Hello!! I am an artist who is looking to expand beyond twitter commissions and i would love to have a website with a newsletter.
Im looking into options right now, and i was wondering if anyone here knows what the best combination of cheap domain + a business email + website builder is?

Im currently using carrd (free) for my site. i could upgrade to pro for $19/year, buy a domain and connect it to carrd and get a business email to use Sender (generous free plan) to start a newsletter, im missing a few puzzle pieces, or if anyone knows a better way to do this please let me know! thank you :)

I'm a 16 year old photographer and I make my money through weddings and portraits. Right now I get around 1 wedding per month and even less portraits, so I'm looking into building a website, and buying a domain. I'm young and I don't know a lot about this stuff, if I buy the domain for £20/ year, do I also get the email? How do I use the email?? Or do I have to go through Google to host it? And for the website I'm looking at wix, but I can't afford the 15/month for wix and also the 25/month for Google, not until I get more clients.. Can someone give me the step by step to get the domain, the email, and build a website for less than £30/month, or is that just not possible?

edit: thanks for all the answers, sorry if I don't reply to them all but I am reading them and writing down the info, thanks :)

edit 2: solved! I've gone through Google workspace starter, £5/month (you have to sign up for the business plus, and then change subscription). I went through Google for the storage and email hosting. I'm making the site with Google sites, but in the future I'll head over to wix or squarespace.

I now own tysphotostash.com and hopefully this is the start of a successful business? (check it out if you want but it's all over the place ATM)

Most of the websites I’m seeing (Shopify, squarespace, Wordpress) seem to be about $25 per month. Has anyone found anything cheaper? I would like to do sales through the website. I have a small woodworking business and I’m not sure if it would be worth it for me to pay 25 bucks a month. I also don’t have an issue with creating it all from scratch if that is a possibility.

r/MarketingGeek on Reddit: Best Website Builders for 2025?
June 9, 2025 -

What are the best website builders for small businesses? I’m starting a small business and now looking for the best website builders to create my own website. I want it to look professional and also help drive traffic. I plan to build the site myself, so I’m searching for a builder that’s easy to use but flexible enough for future needs.

I’ve been reading about different companies, but it’s confusing. Many seem good at first, but I’ve heard some business owners say that certain website builders don’t work well with HTML, or have limitations because they use drag-and-drop systems. I don’t want to face issues like that later.

I have a few questions:

  • What is the best website builder for small businesses?

  • Are there any good free website builders?

  • Should I go with a custom-built site or use a drag-and-drop builder?

  • Any website builders you recommend based on personal experience?

Any tips or advice would be super helpful! I want to pick a platform that works well long-term and won’t give me problems once my business grows. Thanks in advance!

I’m currently looking for a website builder that hits the sweet spot between affordability and quality for 2024. Starting up a business, and every penny counts, but I also need my website to look professional and offer the basic functionalities like e-commerce integration, responsive design, and easy content management.

I’ve heard about various options ranging from Wix and Squarespace to WordPress and Webflow, but I’m particularly interested in finding the most cost-effective solution without compromising too much on features.

Does anyone have recommendations for the best and cheapest website builders that have worked well for you? Tips on getting the best value for money or any hidden gems in the market would also be greatly appreciated!

Thanks for helping out!

Hey, everyone.

I'm currently in the processing of starting my own business (completely online), and I need a good website builder.

Coding a website isn't currently an option. I would just like recommendations STRICTLY on website builders, and what the best ones are for the price. And what kind of prices am I looking at ?

I've heard both wonderful and not-so-great things for every website builder out there: Shopify, Squarespace, Wix, etc...

I also heard that Shopify charges you per payment transaction? Not too sure, but I believe I read that somewhere.

I would love something offering simple and clean layouts, is user-friendly, and something I can also add subscription options to (e.g think monthly subscription boxes for clients), if I end up going that route eventually.

I live in Quebec, if this helps anything.

Thank you everyone! I appreciate any/all advice 🥰

Most of the big names like Webflow and Squarespace are kind of pricey.

Are there any no-code builders that have affordable monthly plans but still look professional?

I’ve seen Hostinger, Durable, and Weebly.

They all seem to look good but I haven’t personally tried any of them.

I just need a homepage, about page, and contact form if I ever pick one.

Which one do you use and why? Help me out. Thanks!

If Wix is out of your price range, then you need to seriously consider if you need a website. Have a look out for the thousands of businesses that crop up on r/smallbusiness offering to build websites for free. They will be after something, but honestly if you can't swing for a few dollars a month, you've not really got any hope. What you absolutely do not want to do is find super cheap hosting and do it yourself. You'll not find it much cheaper anyway, but you'll end up with a terrible, insecure website. Do not use WordPress on your own. Try wordpress.com instead - it's the hosted version of wordpress and they do a free tier. You can then pay a bit extra to have a domain from them (it's not the cheapest domain, but it's competitive). You'll have some restrictions on your chosen template, and an ad banner with the free version, but it is free so what do you expect. The personal plan is $3 a month, includes your domain for the first year, unlocks premium templates and removes the ads. This is your best bet.

There are a lot of services now that revolve solely around a WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) editor, which sounds like what you want. The pricing for these is pretty similar across the board: Webflow is around $14 (~£9), Wix is £9, and Framer is the cheapest at £4. The downside with any of these is that you don’t get a lot of storage, or there are other restrictions in place. You might be better suited to finding a more traditional host that includes a free website builder tool like SiteJet or SitePro. Alternatively, you could look at using WordPress with Elementor, as u/ivicad mentioned.

r/smallbusiness on Reddit: Cheapest Way to Create a Website for New Small Business?
April 23, 2023 -

Just started a small business (s-corp) and wondering what the best/cheapest/easiest way to create a website is. I created the S-corp via LegalZoom, which connected me to Wix, which charges about 14 or 15 a month, but was wondering whether there are any cheaper/free options.

Related to the same, I'd like to create a Gmail account for the business. Does that cost any money? And would any issues arise if I decided to do so and build a website using something other than one of the more mainstream/expensive website builders (e.g. Squarespace or Wix)?

This was just asked and I posted this two days ago: I worked as a web developer for a long time and for an author's website, there are plenty of tools to do this yourself at a very low cost. You don't need a developer. First, you need a domain name. You can buy one through Wix, Go Daddy, or other sites, but I recommend you buy your own so you control it. Namecheap offers domains for great prices. They also include domain privacy. Search online for a promo code. They always have one for at least 20% off. Second, you need web space. You can use something again like Wix, Go Daddy, Hostpapa, but it can get expensive. A lot of these sites will also charge you extra for HTTPS which is FREE. So don't pay extra for that. It's a scam. Again, namecheap offers packages such as Wordpress hosting which is cheap and will do what you need. For me, I have my site hosted with Netlify and GitHub and my total cost is $0 per month. I just pay for my domain name yearly. GitHub will host your page for free as long as it is static. Forms are okay. But a static site is all an author needs. WordPress is great but I think it's overkill. And if you don't keep it updated, you're susceptible to attacks. If you are going to be blogging, then you need a blogging tool (like WordPress). If you just need a site with minimal updates, look at a static website generator or just some HTML. You can use something like https://teleporthq.io/ to build your site, then once it is done, it can be auto-exported to GitHub. Connect that with Netlify and you have a website hosted for free. If you have any questions, let me know.

No problems with Squarespace. Easy to use for the technologically mediocre user.

r/smallbusiness on Reddit: Best website builder for a small business?
June 25, 2025 -

I’m in the early stages of launching a small business and need to get a website up soon. My two biggest priorities are making it look professional and actually driving traffic to it, no point in a pretty site if nobody visits it.

I’ve looked into WordPress (the Business Plan is $300/year), and while it seems powerful, I’m hesitant to commit that much upfront. Not because it’s outrageously expensive, but I’m wondering if there’s a better starting point that doesn’t involve paying a full year in advance.

Are there platforms that offer a good mix of design flexibility and marketing tools, especially ones that don’t break the bank? I’ve seen people mention Shopify, Squarespace, and even working with digital agencies like Clectiq for more customized setups. I’m open to anything that balances affordability and growth potential.

Would love to hear what’s worked for you or your business. Thanks!

I’m setting up a small business site and looking at Squarespace, Wix, and WordPress. My main goals are a clean, professional look and being able to handle SEO basics without a ton of hassle. I’ve tried Wix in the past and found it easy but a bit limited when I needed more flexibility. WordPress seems powerful but maybe overkill for a simple site, and Squarespace looks polished but I’m not sure about long-term customization. What is the best website builder for a small business if you want solid SEO and room to grow? Is it worth learning WordPress for this?

No one is actually saying anything so I will. I run a web agency in the US. I’ve seen it all. Wix and Duda are the worst Wordpress templates are bloated and insecure Squarespace is rigid and hard to customize anything more than a basic design Framer is mostly used for tech saas enterprise sites for start ups. Webflow is good but a steep learning curve and expensive The best choice as a small business owner is bricks builder on Wordpress. It has the better code under the hood and better load times. I don’t use it myself, I prefer to custom code. But if you have no choice then bricks is it. For SEO, the platform doesn’t matter. No one platform is “better” at SEO. SEO is a process. Not a plugin. It’s keyword research, content creation, backlinking, blogging, improving load times, social media, accessibility, etc. But that also doesn’t mean that just because you make a site that you’ll be front page for your keywords instantly. Anyone can make a website but not everyone can make a good one. It takes 6-12 months to be properly placed in the search results. And if you did you content strategy right you’ll start seeing SOME results and traction within 4 months. And sometimes when the market is competitive you need to put more work into it and build more authority and go after different or more keywords. It’s a lot actually.

For quick launch and polished design, Squarespace nails the basics and keeps maintenance low. Wix has improved its SEO tools, but you’ll hit flexibility limits if you scale. WordPress demands more setup but wins long-term: true ownership, endless plugins, and advanced SEO control. If growth or complex features are on the horizon, it’s worth learning WordPress or hiring a pro to set up a lean build you can grow into.
