Personal rant: What are those manufacturers smoking? In my example above, 1I2 converts to 2021-September-02. So it's formatted YMD, and the letter's order in the alphabet correlates to the month. Okay, a little weird but I can get the hang of it. But then I look at a Nivea product, B0003389. What could this possibly mean? 30 mins of searching later. It's Julian calendar day? Why? But wait, it's not even standard Julian format. The right format is YYDDD, and they use DDDY, the year at the end only has 1 digit. So B0003389 means the 338th day of 2019. Just WHY? Gimme YYMMDD!!! I waste 30 mins to 1 hour of my life every time I have to look up a japanese product batch code's meaning. Hope this can save people's time. More on reddit.com

There's no real website that has a majority of brands. I've contacted the company before via email with lot numbers before and they always get back to me, and usually pretty quickly. More on reddit.com

Maybe you can check their batch code on Checkfresh. Itโs not 100% correct but maybe you can guess an idea of when they will go bad.

Hello. Are there any brands of cosmetics i can find in the US which have expiration/ manufacture date printed, like in Europe? (not 'shelf life', its different). Im amazed that toilet cleaner has an expiration date, but something i put on my face has not. A few times i have bought obviously old (dry) eye cosmetics. Thanks

That's a good question. All of the makeup I buy in North America comes with an expiry date once it's opened (24 months) for example and that's found on the packaging on the actual product. It will say 24M for example. As for knowing when it was made, maybe that's something you can find out with the batch number on the product? Maybe contact the companies and ask.
