I'm an independent contractor and have been sending my invoices through quickbooks. I'm now moving but need to get a proof on income to get accepted. Anyone know how I'm suppose to get something like a pay stub from it.

Long story short, i worked for an employer that paid me by check and i no longer have records of the check (and no, the bank account does not have records of the check because the account was closed) and i need to provide proof of income.
I would like ideas on how to create fake paystubs. He is willing to verify that he paid me the amounts, he just doesn't want to go through the hassle of faking paperwork.
I’m living in a hotel right now because my mom kicked me out for not giving her money and I’m trying to get my own apartment. I can’t use my job because I don’t make enough money to qualify for 3x but I’m responsible, just don’t have no one to co-sign. I don’t want to get another roommate because my last roommate kept quitting their job and I had to pay 100% of the rent by myself for months, making 14/hr might I add, and we ended up getting an eviction. This lady trying to charge me $125 for each paystub and I need 6 so that’s not possible. So I’m just trying to get this apartment, hopefully asap because I only have enough to pay for this hotel for a week before it hits my apartment money. So any tips or something to help me please and thank you.
Company I worked for is shut down. I don’t have a W-2, just pay stubs. Will that be enough for employment verification during a background check? I don't have any employment reference for that job either.

I was really depressed for the last 3 years and I haven't had a job that's been more than one month. I have finally gotten though my depression and have been looking for jobs. I put two fake companies in my resume and now my new job wants paystubs or W-2 forms from these fake companies what should I do? I really need this job, I'm broke.
Ever wondered how tenants make fake paystubs?
Go to sedja(.)com
You can forge every part of your paystubs and bank statements.
The "edits" 100% match the original font and spacing. So it's is pretty much impossible to catch these changes with the naked eye.
Stay safe out there
When verifying income, what do you do when you believe a paystub is fake (ie, generated by pay-stubs.com or others)? We have a rule that we deny any application that has been falsified, but proving it’s false is difficult.
All you noobs! Checking employment on tenants should be done, but do NOT rely on check stubs alone, as tenants sometimes will pay someone skilled in graphic design to alter or outright forge a stub, sometimes going so far as to "hire" a tenant and issue "paycheck stubs" for fooling a potential landlord into thinking that the person really is employed and is earning an adequate income.
Ask for stubs as initial proof of employ.
Look up the company. Does it exist?
Call up the HR dept or go visit the location if such is local.
You may have to have your tenant sign a release.
Verify using contact information YOU have pulled up.
If a tenant tries to refer you to a co-worker or direct supervisor, such may lie to you to cover for their friend.
If there is a corporate headquarters, it can be better to go through the main HQ rather than seek verification through a local store / location site.
Hope this helps!
Did the person with the forged check stub have good credit?
It's a really high chance someone who forges check stubs and won't pay rent, has already done this to other businesses, and it will show on their credit. Landlords are rarely the first to discover a deadbeat.
I'm not even a landlord right now, but I am a criminal justice major, so I guess this still somewhat relates to me too. Thanks for letting us know!
Most landlords just ask for proof of income but don’t actually verify it with your employer. If you’re slightly under the required income, just adjust your pay stub before submitting it.
If they do verify, they usually just call your employer to confirm employment not income. Worst case, have a friend answer the call and back you up.
Landlords inflate rent prices and stack income requirements, so why not level the playing field?
I feel like this should go without saying, but it always amazes me how many people I see on here who run into problems because they never check their pay stubs. I’m getting my annual bonus paid out soon and I realized the amount listed on my pay stub was wrong. The CFO had calculated the bonuses incorrectly for anyone who got a mid year raise last year.
I would’ve been shorted $500 if I hadn’t double checked the math.
I'm applying for an auto loan and after hours of answering questions they require a pay stub, I contacted the company I work for recently and they said they can get one to me in 2 weeks (the pay stub is required within the next 2 days apparently). If I create one with all accurate information, is that fine? I would not be faking the company, any numbers, EIN, etc.. it'd all be the real info - Are there further resources I could take a look at to make a decision, or has anyone run into similar problems?
Thanks
This happened 3 years ago when I was in college (22m). I was struggling really hard to find an internship after my junior year of college. After many applications and interviews I finally landed a finance internship at a major bank.
The problems started when I had to undergo an employment history background check where they checked every detail of my past employment for the past ten years, which included a lot of unrelated jobs from high school. The background check company was awful and wasn’t able to verify any of my past jobs except for my previous internship. Even then it was flagged because my past manager told them I was an office manager rather than an administrative assistant as I said on my resume (which is what I was). The company said they weren’t able to get in touch with anyone else. Turned out none of my past managers answered because the calls were coming from Malaysia and they weren’t leaving messages. I told my past managers to accept the calls next time and it all got sorted out except one place. I couldn’t track down my old manager at a flooring company I worked for at age 16 and found they had since closed down. What made it worse was I couldn’t find pay stubs for this job because who saves all their pay stubs when they are 16? The background check company said they would accept w2 forms and I managed to get copies of those.
Then they contacted me 2 weeks later and said they needed documentation to confirm the dates I worked there and w2’s couldn’t do that. The same day I was contacted by the bank I was gonna intern with, who said they heard I wasn’t cooperating with the background check company and I was in danger of having my start date pushed back, or losing the position altogether. Out of desperation I took 2 pay stubs from another company and photoshopped the name of the company and edited the dates to be around my start/end dates of working there. The background check company accepted these and I was cleared.
Fast forward 3 years and I was able to use my experience at that internship to land a good job after graduation and will likely surpass a six figure salary this year. I haven’t had to go through such a stringent background process since but if I do I’m leaving off any unrelated jobs from my applications anyways.
I mentioned this story to some people who went off on me saying I shouldn’t be where I am if I forged documents to get here. But I don’t believe I did anything wrong as I was fully qualified and I only put in accurate data in the documents in question. I didn’t deserve to lose a job because of unrelated pay stubs from when I was 16. It would’ve been a huge hit on my career if I lost that internship. Anyways, someone suggested I post this on here to get additional thoughts. So AITA?
Yesterday, I received an email from the company that offered me a job inquiring for more info about my most recent employer. Sterling is asking for me to provide W2s for the 3 years I worked with a school district (my most recent job) and also for paystubs from These 3 years. I can provide W2s but don’t want to do this for privacy concerns and also don’t have access to the paystubs anymore. Can I just pass on providing this info?

I'll get right to the point. A friend and I are applying to lease an apartment. The leasing agent requested pay stubs from both of us in order to verify our incomes.
I am still a student and work part time making decent money. Until I graduate, my parents will be providing me with a little additional money to make ends meet. Since my pay won't be increasing until I graduate (several months), I was wondering if it's a bad idea to fax together with my application a modified pay stub showing the income I will be making in the near future? I want to avoid needing my parents as co-signers.
Can an apartment complex call my employer to verify the dollar amounts shown on the stub? Are there any legal ramifications involved here?
I know people run into similar issues when working as independent contractors or when self employed. Has anyone done something along these lines, or have any tips? Thanks.
This is fraud.
If you have a guaranteed job upon graduation, contact your future employer and request a signed letter stating what your salary will be. Submit this letter along with your non-fraudulent pay statement and explain the situation. I was able to do this when I applied for a mortgage. I received a substantial pay raise at my job but had yet to receive my next, larger pay cheque. I got a letter and my last, lower pay stub and went to the bank: no problems.
If you don't have a guaranteed job and cannot get such a letter, any information you pass on that has been modified is fraud, plain as day, and is quite illegal.
totally illegal to misrepresent your income ...same as applying for a car loan , falsification is fraud just like car dealers can call your place of employment to verify your time on job and income, housing has similar plans in place
I’m starting to see more questionable paystubs. We send everything through screening then the screening company requests for leasing office to complete voi. I see some companies being used that are no longer in business with recent pay stubs. How would you handle this situation? We are also reviving more fake cashier’s checks. I have received two in the last four months. I wish my company would report these people who are giving fake checks because it’s a crime.
