Can you install a Chicco infant car seat without a base?
What’s the difference between KeyFit 30 and KeyFit Max car seats?
Is there a car seat that goes from infant to toddler?
We were recently in a crash (thankfully with no injuries!) and are deciding what car seat to get to replace our Nextfit. Our child is almost 6, weighs barely 40lbs and is 43 inches.
I’m interested in the Chicco myfit because I want him to stay in a harness as long as possible, he’s quite small for his age. The Nextfit feels safer to me - but I know he will max out the 49 inch height limit and need a booster in a few years anyway.
I know all car seats pass the same safety standards, but is there anything to my feeling like he is much more protected in the Nextfit? Feeling a bit traumatized after the crash and thankful that he was so safe in this tank of a car seat…it feels wrong to now purchase a car seat that seems to provide less protection.
For context - we also have an almost 1 year old ready to transition out of her Keyfit into a Nextfit rear facing. And we have several grandparents in town that have car seats too so it’s a big car seat puzzle!
Both Consumer Reports and The Bump have the Chicco NextFit Zip as the highest rated car seat, but I can’t find it to buy from any reputable site.
Is this just because it’s sold out? Any recommendations for a similarly highly rated car seat, around $300? We need one ASAP because our infant car seat sucks.
