Hello,
I have one dinner in Amsterdam and wanted to get the group’s recommendations for what that should be. It doesn’t necessarily have to be a 2*, but would like something a bit upscale and bonus points for being Dutch. I’ve seen folks recommend de Kaas, Juwelier, etc, but reviews appear to be fairly mixed? Thanks
These places seem quite similar. Wondering if anyone has a preference and why? I lean towards Zoldering because of the Star, but I cannot decide. Help!
Hi everyone. Heading to central Amsterdam for my husband's Birthday and looking for a lovely tasting menu. I would welcome recommendations for up and coming restaurants that don't necessarily have a star yet too. Thanks in advance!
We went out for dinner tonight and while the restaurant was amazing the €185 bill for the two of us was a bit on the steep side.
We're looking for cozy romantic places where we can spend a couple of hours with at least a 3-course meal + wine or other drinks. Budget is about €100-120 for the two of us.
We know plenty of places where we can order a main dish, be full and then leave but that's not what we're looking for.
Visiting Amsterdam in a few weeks. Looking for upscale/fine dining restaurants, but not a 3-4 hour "dinner and a show" that many Michelin restaurants put on. Local cuisine, farm-to-table, with focus on simplicity and bold flavors, lively atmosphere. Your recommendations would be greatly appreciated!
Hi there, friends of mine are getting married and they stated that they don’t want any gifts. They are getting married in South Africa and us all going out to them is gift enough in their eyes.
Now I would still like to give them something as a show of appreciation and something large is not really practical, so I thought about giving them a nice dining experience. They live in Amsterdam and therefore I would like to give them a gift card (or similar) for a nice dining experience.
What restaurant recommendations would you give me that I can give them as a wedding gift? And why?
I was personally thinking about Scheepskameel as that is what a quick Google search brought up as a nice place to sit and have dinner, but I don’t know more than that.
Thanks in advance for all of your help!
EDIT: Thanks for the speedy replies. I chose BAK.
Heading to Amsterdam in about 6 months and I’m trying to decide between a few restaurants. I’m looking for Dutch cuisine or interpretations of Dutch cuisine, but definitely not looking for a French restaurant or other cuisine.
I’ve been looking at De Kas and Wils, but would love any recommendations, or even potentially a restaurant doing a tasting menu that doesn’t have a star, I have heard of Breda for example.
I am considering doing Wils Bakery cafe instead of the restaurant.
Any other recommendations would also be welcome. Thanks so much
My wife and I recently visited Amsterdam for 4 days and we absolutely loved it. People were friendly, the food was tasty, and the city is beautiful. Before going I read about what doors to get in and off of in the tram and being mindful of the bicycle lanes. I’m glad I did. Hats off to your wonderful city. I wish America would learn a thing or two from other cultures and implement it.
Hello,
Me (F34) and my husband have made an ambitious plan to go out for dinner every month and we’re taking turns on deciding a new restaurant. The city always seems to have so many appealing places, but this is my first go and I’m already drawing a blank.
So my question: what are your favorites? Bonus points if it’s “affordable” (relatively speaking) and has a nice sit in. Among the places that we’ve enjoyed in the past are 63 graden, Barca and Johannes.
No preference for Stadsdeel or type of cuisine 😁
I am looking for a cozy place to get out for my girlfriend’s birthday. I have heard about top tier restaurants like ciel bleu, graphite, 212 etc. but the food there is just not for us, and some of them are way too expensive.
Hoping this sub might be able to help me out. Girlfriend and I are headed to Europe in about a month and want to do a few special dinners. We’re in our mid 20’s and not looking for anything too expensive (no Arpege or Plenitude), but if anyone has suggestions on more affordable tasting menus to check out, that would be much appreciated!
We currently have reservations for Vermeer and Breda in Amsterdam, Verjus and Auguste in Paris. Does anyone have experience with those spots? Also looking at 101 Gowrie in Amsterdam and Restaurant Substance in paris as alternatives. Any others to look at?
Excellent choice for both Vermeer and Breda, latter is known for great sauces.
I'd add Choux (veggie heavy, Nordic inspired, one of lower-key favourites), rijks (next to rijks museum)/wils (same chef, but cooking on open fire).
Another local favourite is Kaagman & Kortekaas, but I think between Breda and Vermeer you have that style covered.
If you dig cocktails, Vespers is awesome.
Have a great time!
Rijks in Amsterdam is great I went back in March and was blown away!
I would love to hear your favorite spots for fine dining in Amsterdam. I am only there 3 days and there seems to be so many options so any recommendations are greatly appreciated!
