The Christian population in Israel has increased with the immigration of many mixed families from the former Soviet Union (1989 to late 1990s), and through the influx of approximately 7,000 Christian Maronites from Lebanon in 2000.

In 1948 Christians made up around 10% of the population. Today it’s around 1%. In Gaza more than half the Christian population has left in the last ten years, while the number of those killed in the ongoing conflict continues to rise.
