What are virtual cards through Google Pay?
Virtual cards through Google Pay allow you to create and pay with a virtual card when you shop online with Chrome or in Android apps. The virtual cards you create using Google Pay are unique to each specific store, meaning each virtual card will only work at one store. For example, if you create and use a virtual card at Target, that virtual card will not work if you try to use it at another store. Virtual cards help protect your credit card account online by disguising your actual card number at checkout.

r/googlepay on Reddit: Chrome will no longer prompt for CVC verification when using a credit card from Google Pay
May 7, 2024 -

I recently upgraded from Windows 10 to Windows 11. Since then I'm struggling to get Chrome to act the way it used to. Before when I would click in a credit card field during checkout Chrome would prompt me to pick a credit card from Google Pay. Then after selecting one it would give me a prompt for verifying the card with the CVC number. I like this setup, however I can't for the life of me get Chrome to do this now. I have seen quite a few posts and forums referencing a "Always verify when using autofill” setting, but that doesn't exist, I only have the settings below. When I try to enable the "Manually verify..." setting it wants to do something with my local Windows account. How can I get it to prompt me for verification via the CVC?
