The CIBC Costco card is only good if you shop at Costco.ca , gas up at Costco a lot and have high restaurant spends, but if you want the best card to use at Costco warehouses, interestingly, it's the Rogers World Elite MasterCard instead as the Rogers WE MC pays out 1.5% CB instead of the 1% that the CIBC Costco card pays. Everyone's experience is their own. I've not personally had any issues with the card. I think you're right that it takes longer for them to post a transaction than my Rogers Mastercard does but it hasn't had a negative impact on me. I got the card because Rogers wouldn't give me an increased limit beyond $10,000. I applied to Costco and I got $25,000 no questions asked. So I'm happy to have it. More on reddit.com

I was wondering why people use their cibc costco card to pay at the costco as the reward rate is just 1% in their store. For the gas it is a no brainer as you get 3% reward but only 1% in their store. Some mastercard card offer more than 1% reward

I don’t have another Mastercard. The only credit card type Costco takes is Mastercard. So for me, it’s debit or my Costco card. Yes I know I could get another card. I am happy with my number of credit cards as too many gets unwieldy. I’d rather get 1% back than nothing.
