I was pre-approved for Bank of America and then denied right after. What is the world is the point!!! You are making someone do a hard pull. It should be like American Express. You are approved "if you want" after a pre-approval. No pre approved and then denied. You only have a hard pull IF AND ONLY IF you want to proceed and get a card.

4/24, 4/12, 1/6 new cards
2/12, 1/6 inquiries on Experian
I'm not seeing what I'm missing. I'm hesitant to apply without getting a pre-approval first (fears from the struggle to get a C1 VX)

Was approved this evening for Citi Strata & was not pre-approved when I used Citi's pre-approval site. I was hesitant, but went ahead and did it anyway. YMMV. Comparable datasets to yours though utilization is 2-3% for me. AAOA = 10 years. Experian score of 808. 4/24, 3/12 2/6 new cards. Pulled from Equifax. 5 months ago was denied the Citi Premier. Approval came as a surprise. Another datapoint. P2 also got Strata card last week with lower inquiries than what I've noted above for myself. Pre-approved for CCC, DC & 3 other Citi cards but NOT the Strata. Experian score of 778. Pulled from Equifax. Wishing you well in your decision. Most of the time I hesitate & don't pull the trigger. This time I did.
