Because Citi doesn't do referral bonuses and all of the Youtubers don't make money off promoting the card. I have it. Use it for grocery, pets and gas. The 3X has even been working at discount gas stations unlike AMEX. More on reddit.com

I think the Citi premier is extremely underrated. It hits a lot of multiplies for most (3x groceries, dining, travel, gas). Signed up specifically because I wanted a card with transfer partners to Miles and Smiles. The one major downfall and why I don't use it anymore is due to their fraud department. Card gets declined nonstop when traveling abroad, even when confirming multiple times over that I'll be out of the country. It's 10 steps back as far as fraud tech is concerned. If you're not worried about that and traveling domestically, I'd say go for it, but as an international travel card I'd steer clear. More on reddit.com

I got the citi premier card last month and was surprised when the annual fee showed up on my first statement. I thought most credit cards generally waived the fee for the first year and only started charging the second year you have the card.
I'm reading the fine print now and it doesn't say anything about this so maybe this is just a case of wrong assumptions but I wanted to ask here and just make sure. All my previous cards that had annual fees waived them in the first year. Does Citi not do this?

The premier does not regularly waive the first year, yours was not waived. I recommend reading a little more before you apply for a card, if this concerns you a lot.

I thought most credit cards generally waived the fee for the first year No, that's incorrect. An annual fee is going to be waived if that's specifically stated as part of the SUB. Most SUBs currently available do not waive the annual fee.
