Well, I need a free claude api key for a core functionality in a personal project. Can anyone please guide me how to get one or if there is a shareable key.
. NET developer.
I am not sure if I can post this here. If not, please let me know, I shall remove this.
Thank you.

I just paid for the Pro version of Claude. Downloaded Cursor and when I went to add the 'API key', it seems like I also need to pay for Anthropic?
I am a little confused. First time doing the Cursor IDE setup. I am a Rider dev.
I want to be able to use Cursor without any limitations. Not bragging but money is not a concern. I make enough as a Software Consultant to afford those memberships.
Also, I heard about bolt.new or something along those lines? I checked it out but it seems towards opinionated out-of-the-box frontend applications.
Any advice?
Thanks!!!
I highly recommend using Claude 3 Opus from the API, especially if you just want to try it out. It’s not free but the API doesn’t require an upfront flat fee and doesn’t have rate limits etc!
There’s some options for desktop like TypingMind.
For iOS I wanted to suggest my app called Pal Chat that lets you use your own API Key to chat with Claude, and it’s completely free to download: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/pal-ai-chat-client/id6447545085
(The app also has no backend and takes absolutely no usage data. You can verify this by going to the app privacy report in iOS settings!)
I love Claude's official chat apps but the free tier is too limited, while the pro tier too expensive. So... I bought API credits.
I mainly (but not exclusively) use it for programmming-related one-off tasks. Things like "how do you achieve X in Y language?" or "write a short bash script to rename my photos" or "can you explain to me XYZ concept, which I have a hard time grasping".
So, something that manages artifacts would be a plus, but not essential. Code formatting is more important, as well as cross device sync of chats.
I would also like a simple way of choosing whether I want to interact with Haiku or Sonnet.
Any suggestions?
Hi,
I want to use Claude's API for some task, and I want to evaluate it's performance before actually commiting and paying them.
I created an API key via their site but when I try to use it I get this error: "anthropic.BadRequestError: Error code: 400 - {'type': 'error', 'error': {'type': 'invalid_request_error', 'message': 'Your credit balance is too low to access the Anthropic API. Please go to Plans & Billing to upgrade or purchase credits.'}}"
But, I haven't even used it once.
someone knows how it can be solved?
I’ve been using the free chat on the website for 3.5 sonnet for coding but it keeps reaching the limit. Is the API unlimited or at least way longer? And does the API work as good?
I use Claude pro 4-5 times a week for writing tasks. I usually finish around the time the limit's up. Would anyone know if I'll pay less then the monthly $20 if I use the API instead?
Edit: it seems the major opinion is the API will be cheaper. Would love some tips how or where to start my API journey
I wish i have a lot of money.. please don't remove it ☝️😞
I switched from GPT-4 to now mostly using Claude 3, but the daily message limits are annoying. Also, I really like the ChatGPT interface better. Claude is missing a features like a button to STOP when it’s streaming a long response that is bad.
I use this project to get my own front-end for Claude 3. It uses the API so I have no daily limit to messages, and I get to use a chat interface that has all the features ChatGPT has. Even if you’re not very technical, it’s easy to set up. https://github.com/allyourbot/hostedgpt
It supports both GPT-4 and Claude 3 so it lets you do really cool things like you’re having a conversation with one of them and you don’t like it’s response, you click the “re-generate” button and you can switch assistants mid-conversation. This animated gif demonstrates. The other day I asked it a technical question and switched assistants and finally got the right answer! https://p425.p0.n0.cdn.zight.com/items/ApuPWXb6/c413f8dc-519f-4f5f-b250-45a7688b99d1.gif
It’s also really nice to have access to both GPT-4 and Claude 3 without committing to $20 per month to either. I just get charged for what I use. For example, OpenAI released a new version of the GPT-4 model last week I’ve been going back to it to see how much they improved it. (I don’t have a well-formed opinion yet).
I want to make a small reddit based saas. I'm willing to pay the .24 for API access but after looking through posts it seems that reddit just ignores most commercial application requests if they are not big enough?
Otherwise I'm happy to use the free tier as that is really all I need wrt rate limits, but I am not allowed to paywall that? Now this makes me unsure what to do.
How are people building small reddit based applications?
