I’m running into a persistent issue with CC when using it with Cursor. It connects to the IDE initially, but after a few minutes it silently disconnects. When I type /ide again, it shows multiple Cursor sessions like:

1. Cursor  
2. Cursor (55455)  
3. Cursor (another PID)

Even when I connect to the base “Cursor” entry, it still disconnects shortly after. I’ve tried:

Reinstalling the Claude extension
Killing ghost Cursor processes
Clearing ~/.claude/local/.mcp
Migrating to the local Claude CLI install

Nothing fixes it. The IDE shows “Connected” briefly, but always drops after a few minutes. I’m using macOS and only running one Cursor window.

Anyone else facing this or know how to fully stabilize the connection?

Maybe this is not a bug, but a feature... which will lead you to abandon Cursor and start with Claude Code...

I was experiencing this, which was driving me crazy. But it appears fixed now. The issue was that I had multiple cursor projects open simultaneously (even though they were minimized) I guess multiple projects loading the extension caused conflicts. The fix: Closed all cursor windows (even minimized ones) but one, and it's working stably now.

Are u trying to use claude in 2 windows? But yea the ide does disconnect some time, not enough to bother me

i like the extension because it allows me to do simple things that i care about such as highlighting lines, opening a file, and the AI would know where im at.

but i HATE that it interrupts my flow. i use the intellij extension, and i work in parallel, meaning i have other IDE tabs open in other files while Claude Code does its thing. everytime it writes something, i get teleported to the line of interest of Claude. i have it on dangerously-skip-permissions so i couldnt care less about what its doing. i wanna check on it whenever I WANT, not whenever it wants.

is there a way to disable this without uninstalling the extension?

I absolutely hate this as well. For me it’s queuing up messages. I can’t get through half of a sentence before it teleports me back into the IDE, where I accidentally keep typing. I hope they add a setting for it eventually.

I just open another terminal tab running Claude where it isn't doing anything. Only one instance can be connected to your ide at a time so it'll disconnect the one actually doing work.

For some reason (really no reason to my perspective), I keep seeing the message IDE disconnected.

I searched this error on google and i found the video "Use Claude Code in Cursor. Get the best of both worlds" and it fixed the problem but shortly after my claude ide connected to cursor IDE shows the error again. how do I fix this?

I just updated my cursor to 1.3.6 and got the same error, I am trying to revert to 1.2 to see if that fix the problem

I have been having this issue intermittently since yesterday, where Claude Code is unable to connect to Cursor IDE, despite detecting it in /ide and having the same cwd.

To add more details, the connection issue happens when: I am opening Cursor from cli and I am opening Claude Code from cli inside Cursor However, if I open Claude Code using the Claude Code IDE extension, it seems to be working fine without IDE connection issues.

This issue occurred to me too, I fixed by opening a new instance of Claude Code in a separate terminal.
