Claude Code with Max subscription real limits
I ran 5 Claude Code instances at the same time to build a 5 pages website for 3-4 hours. They are all Opus, and didn't reach the limit. I am using Claude Max 20x and quite enjoy with that. More on reddit.com

Hitting Claude Code limits incredibly fast on $200 Max plan, looking for tips
Plan a lot more - and by planning I mean have a full conversation about what you're trying to do and how Claude is going to implement it - like you would with another human. Like, take whatever amount of planning you're doing now and up it at least 5x. Plan, plan, plan, and then plan more. Planning takes very little context relative to all the other operations. Use the new /agents command to create agents that help you plan. Use agents to debate your plan between themselves. Constantly have Claude update and write out the plan you're making. Then, once all your agents agree that the plan is solid, execute it. I planned yesterday for 2.5 hours and it took 12 minutes to create the feature and another 5 minutes to have the agents critique the implementation and do a round of improvements. The feature worked flawlessly and spanned several hundred lines of code across multiple files. This would of been a minimum multi-day implementation if I did it by myself. So to wrap up, plan. May 3, 2025 -

Currently my main AI tool develop with is cursor. Within the subscription I can use it unlimited, although I get slower responses after a while.

I tried Claude Code a few times with 5 dollars credit each time. After a few minutes the 5 dollar is gone.

I don't mind paying the 100 or even 200 for the max, if I can be sure that I van code full time the whole month. If I use credits, I'd probably end up with a 3000 dollar bill.

What are your experiences as full time developers?

April 29, 2025 - Also, keep an eye on how many API calls your sub-agents make — optimizing that could keep you below limits and still get the job done. Otherwise, bro, upgrading might be just worth it to save time and headaches if you push complex workflows regularly. Hope that helps! ... I did switch to pro. It worked out just fine for me actually. I used it along side cursor so 20$ for cursor and 20$ for claude was enough for my usecases ... With Max 5x I hit maximum in 2h :) !

r/ClaudeAI on Reddit: Hitting Claude Code limits incredibly fast on $200 Max plan, looking for tips
July 27, 2025 -

I’m running Claude Code with the Max $200 plan. I used to be able to run a single window for roughly the whole five hours before running out of context. But for the past 2 days, I’ve only gotten about an hour, and then I have to wait 4. My plan hasn’t changed. It’s not an especially large codebase. I’m not doing anything crazy.

Is there some cache that needs to be cleared, or something I should make sure is not in my Claude.md file? Tips/hints/suggestions? At 1 hour out of every 5 this is unusable. :-(

UPDATE: it was a misconfigured hook. When I removed it, everything returned to normal. (Phew!) Lots of useful suggestions in the thread — thanks all!

Opus 4 ueses tokens 5x more than Sonnet 4. So if you're burning a lot of tokens/min/hour within a 5hr session, Opus 4 ~5/5 = ~1hr usage while Sonnet 4 ~5/1 = ~5hrs usage. Which tracks for my usage on Claude Max $100/month. But Max $200/month is meant to have 4x more than $100/month, so I guestimate 1hr usage on Opus 4 is short. * Install ccusage and use: ccusage blocks --live command to monitor your usage in real time. * run /status to see what files are loaded in memory to make sure you haven't overloaded your context at the start already If you're only cramming everything into CLAUDE.md - make sure to optimize it's size and don't like it grow too large as it's loaded into context each time. My CLAUDE.md is modelled on Cline's memory bank system - example at https://github.com/centminmod/my-claude-code-setup and I have a /cleanup-context slash command to keep the memory bank files optimally sized /cleanup-context - Memory bank optimization specialist for reducing token usage in documentation Removes duplicate content and eliminates obsolete files Consolidates overlapping documentation while preserving essential information Implements archive strategies for historical documentation Achieves 15-25% token reduction through systematic optimization Usage: /cleanup-context

What are the exact weekly and 5-hour usage limits (in coding hours and request counts) for Claude Code when comparing the Anthropic Max 20× plan vs. a Team Premium seat? I know both have the same 200k token context per request, but I’m looking for concrete numbers on how many coding hours and prompts per window/ per week are actually allowed.

August 5, 2025 - In real terms, this means that the majority of Max subscribers on the $100/month 5x plan can expect 140-280 hours of access to Sonnet 4, and 15-35 hours of Opus 4 before they start hitting any ceiling.

r/ClaudeAI on Reddit: Are usage limits getting drained ridiculously faster for anyone else?

I have been noticing a weird trend that after Opus 4.5 release, every new week my limits are getting used up faster and faster, while my usage was highest after the release (like first 7-8 days) and decreased pretty significantly afterwards. Now I am back to my usual usage of creating docs, tests, benchmarks etc. My weekly usage usually end up at 50-55% and rarely reaches 60%+ . Now I am reaching never before weekly usage limits like 77%(!!!!) with only 36 hours left before reset. I am wondering if I am doing something wrong or if its the same for everyone? I am on the $100 plan and don't use any mcp servers, skills or any other extra stuff either.

I do use agents a lot to look into large codebases and condense relevant information, and also for web searching and researching a topic, but I have been doing this the subagent feature was released. So it's either there's some bug in their recent updates (could be related to that instant compact feature or async agents or something else) or they are intentionally doing this.

EDIT: Adding this as some people are replying with stuff like "Opus drains more" and assuming I don't already know that... I's literally just draining more and more that it is just close to going back to opus 4.1 levels if this keeps going on for 2-3 more weeks. I don't have a problem using sonnet, but my problem with this situation is that they made me feel like Opus 4.5 on default was actually a thing but it was just a psychological manipulation trick to make me want the 'better' model and pay more for it (when already waste 30-50$ every month). I don't like this especially because I have been a customer for a long time, it's disrespectful and manipulative.
