Claude Code is IMO the single most powerful tool for AI coding we have available, but its problem has always been that you could burn through $100’s of dollars a month if you’re not careful. If max now includes Claude Code, I think for a lot of us coders that alone puts Claude back to the top of the pack. I have no clue why they didn’t announce this when revealing the max subscriptions: this would’ve made that pill 100x easier to swallow.

I've spent $100 a day on Claude code multiple times. Paid through my work, so I don't really try to manage context if it slows me down. I wonder if it would cover 100% of this.

But when we buy two pro plans it would get upto 80% of tokens of max plan. no!? your math is off lol to get 80% of the tokens of the max plan with pro, you'd need 4 pro subscriptions, as each one gives you 20% of the $100 max plan's tokens the $100 plan is simply worth 5 $20 plans, with additional access to opus in claude code and some other small stuff

Opus is not available for PRO in Claude Code, but in Claude Desktop. Max is 5x Pro. I would say: - Are you using Opus too much? - Are you using Claude code non stop all the day every day? If the above key for you ==>Then MAX If you are doing small tasks, taking time to plan correctly and like to focus on 1 task at a time, fine tune it and do you your code reviews. Use Opus on Claude Desktop (With MCP works fine). If you work that way ==> Pro 2x or 3x if needed.

Better than whatever is windsurf or cursor is offering is what I can say, I paid $15 for windsurf before Claude max came to code, massive difference.

Sorry to talk about this topic again.

But ive noticed the rate limits are much closer to the API costs now. im on max 200. For power users - how much usage are you getting from max 100/200 compared to the actual API cost?

For me there is great value in the $100 max. My weekly reset is in a couple of hours and I'm looking at 26% used on the weekly (zero on Opus). My take is, as long as I use more than 20% the standard $20 wouldn't be enough. If the usage values in ccusage are valid (or valid enough) switching to API is roughly 3 times more expensive for me if I keep the same usage. So for me there is a point in having a max sub.

How on earth did you get to "limits are closer to API cost"? My company pays for API and I have 2 personal Pro accounts for side projects and it's no where close. I can burn 40 bucks easily in 3-4 days of work.
