Claude code on pro might be the greatest llm upsell there is. After using it for a little while I immediatly upgraded to claude max for higher limits and access to Opus in Claude Code. It's absolutely amazing and blows cursor out of the water

It really depends on your codebase, the way you prompt and provide access to context. I am a software engineer with over 15 years of experience. Have been using Claude Code for my SaaS and have been using it for everything almost now. It is surprisingly good in terms of how much you can get away in the 5 hour slot if you know your codebase and are conscious of the limits. For the times I hit the limit, Cursor comes into rescue and let me finish what I have left. In my opinion if you have some fallback option you can just get these two subscriptions and don’t need any much more. But obviously it really depends on how much you use it. My recommendation is to buy just one month of the Pro version and try it out for yourself. I’m pretty sure you will really enjoy it 🙂

Today, I just saw this article about claude code and see that they added claude code to pro plan. But you will only get 10-40 prompts every 5 hours. What do you guys think?

Sonnet 4 is excellent for coding. I imagine the use limits will be annoying though. (I hit them all the time with Max haha)

Pro plan subscribers can access Sonnet 4, but won’t be able to use Opus 4 with Claude Code Seems more like a demo mode, but still better than nothing.

/cost doesn’t tell me how many tokens I’ve used. But after 4 hours I’m at my limit. My project is not massive, and I never noticed more than a few k tokens on occasion. It would be good to know what the limits are and I might move to max.

Wow. 4 hours is way longer than I expected, even with a smaller project. Need to give it a go myself!

In Max 100$ subscription we get 5x the tokens compared to pro 20$ plan. But when we buy two pro plans it would get upto 80% of tokens of max plan. At 40% of cost. So cost vs usage which do you think is better?

Opus is not available for PRO in Claude Code, but in Claude Desktop. Max is 5x Pro. I would say: - Are you using Opus too much? - Are you using Claude code non stop all the day every day? If the above key for you ==>Then MAX If you are doing small tasks, taking time to plan correctly and like to focus on 1 task at a time, fine tune it and do you your code reviews. Use Opus on Claude Desktop (With MCP works fine). If you work that way ==> Pro 2x or 3x if needed.

I hear use cases on the 100$ max subscription that sonnet is almost limitless for claude code, but has anyone actually tried the 20$ pro subscription yet and felt any limits? How long does it take for me to get rate limited on a medium/large scaled laravel/react app if I try to use sonnet semi-regularly? Of course if I give it the right files that I need for the job where I can use it, but I need to know if it is really worth using sonnet for the pro subscription or should I go for the max subscription.

Most definately, Sonnet + ultrathink + Plan Mode is the most GOATED efficient yet performant combination. Do not sleep on Sonnet.

I am using CC for my personal project. Run into limit after 3 hours and i adjust my calendar according to limit reset window ~ 5 hours: early in morning just when i wake up i chat with Claude to put the first time stamp for limit reset window. Then I do the chores and begin the coding. When the limit is hit for the first time, it reach the reset windows. So basically i use CC for 6 hours without hitting limit. Of course when i need to work beyond this 6 hours, i must wait or i can adjust my personal life calendar. What i found Max sub is useful for professional coding or running multiple project

Can anyone share their experience using the pro plan with Claude Code? I only have small projects and a few minor request per day, nothing crazy or massive files. How much basic usage can you get from the pro plan? Any experience and advice? Is it worth it for coding daily use?

I have a moderately large project and I rarely run out of usage. I use every day until it reaches the limit, or at least until I get tired because I’m rarely reaching limits.

I've been putting it through its paces with the JetBrains IDE Claude Code [BETA] plugin, and honestly, it's been a fantastic experience so far. I'm genuinely impressed and super grateful for this powerful tool.

Yeah, I know there are usage limits, but mad respect to Anthropic for extending this to us Pro users instead of keeping it exclusive to the MAX tier. It feels awesome to be included!

Disclaimer: this is fully typed by human well yeah it is literally the best thing, I was not really intrigued to try it at first, thinking it would just reach the limit very fast with my current Pro plan. Until I saw a post in this subreddit that they vibe coded for 4 hours straight until they get rate limited. That's when it got my curiosity to try it. And holy cow, I have been vibe coding for almost 5 hours now (there are some small breaks in between). But seriously, turns out the limit isn't that fast and exceeded my expectations. And here's where the drug kicks in, I got the urge to upgrade to max, thinking I might build something even crazier. So yeah, claude code is KING

Curious how you guys think about Claude Pro + Cursor versus Claude Code (included in Claude Max). I'm currently working on a new software project, using Claude Pro and Visual Studio Code (+ GitHub Copilot). Curious about your insights!

It’s a no brainer. I say this time and time again. If you’re gonna use Claude for programming, use Claude Code. People who complain about results are not using CC, they are using the model in a diff IDE so it’s gimped Anthropic cooks best with their own model (think Nintendo and their first party games). They will always be ahead unless the other models get better at coding which I’m happy for, I want competition in this space lol

I canceled my Cursor subscription, stopped using Cline, and got Claude Code (Max $100), and I’m so glad I did. Not only am I getting better code, but I’m also saving a lot of money.

Since Cursor has changed their pricing and now it is basically useless with their $20USD plan, I was thinking about trying Claude Code. But I don't know if it is better to use it with the API charging credits on Anthropic console or directly buying the Pro plan subscription for $20USD. Can someone who has tried it tell me which is the cheaper way?

Pro definitely. A 2h session costs like 5usd. Using for 2h every day and monthly total would be 150usd. That’s what the api would cost while pro is just 20. Api is for enterprises because they cant buy individual subsricptions for employees.

The $20 plan can easily spend $100-200 worth of API usage in a month without ever hitting limits, it’s not even close!

Hello, I’m wondering how you pay for Claude ai for coding ? Is it better to use the pro version or the api pay for use ? Or maybe both ?

I’m using Claude for other things like generating legal documents and also for coding but Claude by itself is limited to understand the all code base. I’ve tried cursor and windsurf. But they add additional api payment. So maybe someone have an advice to optimize the use ?

Honestly it sounds like you're doing some general purpose use alongside coding. I would recommend against cursor, as recently it came out that they just "had to" bump users down to 4o-mini silently, which instantly makes me say to not trust them. The deal is basically the same as every other subscription for an AI service. If you use it a lot (especially with high contexts), Pro will be much cheaper than API. If you don't, it won't be. The tradeoff is obviously that you're limited in how much you can do in a 5 hour block, mostly dependant on how long your conversations are.

I think only 20x is the best choice for all day work (with Opus). If you have big project Sonnet is not so good. Opus is the only solution. ... This may be a strange question, but you were the last person to write here: How much can you do with the pro plan? I mean, I don't need it for full-time development or for actual code writing, but more for editing, improvement, etc.

In case you missed, if you got rate limited on the web chat, your Claude code will just do fine and still works. And since you won't have access to Opus, then you can simply use the web chat for planning.

So here's what I usually do:

repomix (library to copy your codebase as a .txt onto clipboard) my whole codebase.
attach to Claude web app with Opus selected, then magically prompt my problem and ask it to create a comprehensive plan (sometimes I ask it to use a Markdown format with checkbox, so Claude code can slowly check each box once a task is done).
then copy and paste the response onto Claude code.
Sonnet will do the rest. It'd be better if you ask it to go to each task one by one and not solving the whole thing in one go.

I know some people already know this, so hopefully this also helps those who doesn't know it yet!

nb: this post is 100% human-made
nb#2: this only works if you're working with a repo that can fit into opus's context length limit.

Shift + Tab can now switch Claude Code into "plan mode". So it does design with 0 changes. Every time it ends up creating a todo list. Very often with estimated (human) time for completion. Then I switch to auto-accepted and I tell it to: write the plan in TODO.md execute the first step and update the TODO. The TODO.md is important: for later steps or if it gets lost. You can just ask it to read the TODO again. And you don't pay/spend some time again into "ultrathinking" with Opus for design. What I am going to try next is to leverage the GitLab MCP to replace the TODO with an actual issue/MR.

I don’t have the budget for MAX plan (wish I did), but I’m already subbed to WS, Cursor, Trae. Now thinking about adding Claude Code Pro. Read on TechCrunch that Anthropic mentioned PRO users get around 40–80 hrs of Sonnet 4.

If that’s real, it’s enough for me when I mix with my other subs. Anyone here actually seeing 40–80 hrs? Worth it or nah? Would love real feedback

The new weekly limit will be into effect on August 28th, no one knows yet how it will affect them or how restrictive it will be. Everyone on this sub seems to think it’s already in place. Currently it resets every 5 hours and it’s quite generous. Who knows in 1 week. I’m anxious to find out. My current usage with Claude Pro plan is $300 according to ccusage, that’s since the 1st. Currently the value you get is incredible. Who knows in 1 week what will happen.

As others have said, Cursor's auto-complete is nice, but not essential. If you find that you like Claude Code and want to scale up, get rid of those other subscriptions. None of them perform anywhere near as well as Claude Code. It really is all that you need. And that will free up money to move to Max if you end up needing it.

Due to budget constraints, I opted for Claude Code Pro on Windows. While my Cursor subscription was expired for a few days, I gave Claude a try, mostly through the WSL terminal inside Cursor.

Honestly, I haven’t been getting the performance others seem to rave about:

I often need to prompt it multiple times just to generate usable code, even if i asked it to debug & diagnose
Many times I need to press continue to because it keep asking for permission to edit & run command.
Can't enter new line (Ctrl + Enter/Shift + Enter)
Can't upload image for it to diagnose
Because it's running in WSL, Claude can’t properly access debugger tools or trigger as many tool calls compared to Cursor.

In contrast, Cursor with Opus Max feels way more powerful. For $20/month, I get around 20~40 Opus tool calls every 4 hours, and fallback to Sonnet when capped. Plus, I’ve set up MCPs like Playwright to supercharge my web workflows.

Despite Claude not matching Cursor’s efficiency so far, I’m still hopeful. I’d really appreciate any tips or tweaks to get more out of Claude Code Pro on Windows, maybe some setup or usage tricks I’ve missed?

Also, I heard RooCode will be supporting Claude Code on Windows soon. Hopefully it supercharge Claude Code for Windows.

You can run claude --dangerously-skip-permissions to bypass permission prompts, though this involves some risks. So far, I haven't had any issues. I've even created an alias to make this easier. You can add the following alias to your ~/.bashrc file: bashalias claudy="claude --dangerously-skip-permissions" Now when I run claudy, it executes Claude with the --dangerously-skip-permissions flag enabled.

Have to run it in dangerous mode as well as wsl2 just block everything with permission prompts every line

I've used claude code with api keys in the past, my account has zero credits.

Today I was going to try the claude code with pro subscription, but it just does not work. Im using the latest version of the CLI tool and it still says balance too low. even after logout, login, at login now it says "Add $5 to procced" which makes no sense.

So, how to use it?

login using browser then browser window will open and from there authentication will happen maybe uninstall and then install again claude code

The CLI will,ask you to login. Follow the prompts. Easy. Then, behinds the scenes, an API key is created and you will be charged on the go.

I've been using Claude Code for the past two weekends and I'm absolutely blown away by what it can do! Over the last two weekends I've crushed through 230M tokens (about $140 worth of API credit) building some web applications. Personally, having tried Replit, Bolt, Loveable, Cursor and Windsurf, I feel like I enjoy using Claude Code a whole lot more.

Wanted to see how others feel about it? What do you like or don't like?

I’ve committed more code in the last 6 days on personal projects than in the last 6 years. I’m building complete web apps in a weekend. I’m tuning how I break tasks up for it; it’s about eager intern level in the size of tasks I can assign it, that helps to minimize over engineering ime. It will try to cheat tests from time to time, which is amusing. Honestly though it all feels like magic.

Big fan. I sort of miss the IDE view of the diff that something like Cursor gives, but it’s the most effective coding and investigation agent by far right now.
