I've used both extensively and now exclusively use Claude Code. Both are getting great new capabilities all the time so it's hard to be definitive about which one is better - one thing I know is that Claude owns the servers which make the tokens. With Claude Code Max I've been able to spend thousands and thousands of dollars worth of tokens liberally for $200 a month. This means that Claude Code can build context, spin up subagents, and just plain think a lot more than Cursor will ever be able to for a reasonable cost. I use mostly Claude Sonnet 4 (thinking) which seems to be the best model for most use cases. I now compared to claude code pro. Cursor Pro: 500 requests / month Claude (code) Pro: 45 every 5 hours => >200/day => +6000 / month is my view right? Difference with max Plan is even bigger. More on forum.cursor.com

Cursor Pro if you want to code, you can also ask conceptual questions inside Cursor. With Claude Pro it’s may be more geared towards planning the software/business/marketing etc. If you only get Claude Pro you have to copy paste everything, it can’t change the code automatically or read your codebase in realtime (it may read your GitHub repo but that’s it, you need to push things there). I use both personally.

Both, there is significant difference how Sonnet behaves between these two. Claude Pro is better for creating design documents and planning, and use Cursor Pro for implementation.
