In [email protected], everything worked perfectly: it followed context seamlessly, remembered previous actions, created its own to-do lists, and genuinely felt like collaborating with a real coder buddy. But the new release is an absolute disaster. I have no idea whose idea it was to approve and release this version—it's a huge step backward. I've disabled auto-updates in the .claude.json and downgraded back to [email protected], which is still perfect for my needs. I highly recommend others try downgrading too if you're facing the same issues. More on reddit.com

September 10, 2025Claude Max worth it? (Specifically for using Claude Code)
On saturday I set up a four instance Dev team of Claude code. I told them to create a collaboration interface where I could watch their interactions in real time. They worked together for an hour and created an app I've been thinking about for years. It was amazing watching them communicate with each other and solve problems. And then in the afternoon I had them do a two hour session to create another toy I've wanted forever. I was never limited or throttled that I could tell. I'm on the $100 max plan. For me it's very worth it. Even just talking to my new team is worth it even if they hadn't produced code. They each have their own names, personality, and specialties. Note I'm not currently using any MCPs which probably lowers the amount of context I'm working with significantly. Your mileage may vary. More on reddit.com

Finally, someone with the same experience as mine. I too bought a $100 max plan just for FOMO, but it is almost similar to cursor or roo/cline or aider at least for my user cases. I thought I was alone when seeing rave reviews of claude code max, but all seems more like an ad now. CC is good but not too different than aider or cursor with a good set of "thinking" rules for various tasks. More on reddit.com
