Ive been thinking to buy a razer mechanical keyboard ended up on the huntsman mini but dunno if red is better or purple.

I have a huntsman elite with purple "clicky" switches and the truth is that it is very satisfactory. I also had the red ones. They were calmer, but they were not satisfactory

It all boils down to your preference. Purples are clicky and reds are linear/smooth. The purples are satisfying to type on but a lot of people prefer reds for gaming because they are faster. And no, they do not sound like membrane. If you have trouble deciding. its best to give it a try. Ask a friend or go to a store and ask if you can try either blue (the non-Razer equivalent of the clicky switches) or red (the non-Razer linear switches are still called reds) switches. See which one you like. If you end up liking the clicky ones, then go for the purples. If the linears, go for the reds. if you're new to keyboards and their switches, it does get confusing. But there are a lot of places you can get your questions answered on the internet, so ask away!

Hey guys! I got a huntsman with (red) linear optical switches. I really love the keyboard but the switches are very light and it's so easy to actuate them that I constantly do typos.
I am thinking of returning it and getting the one with purple clicky switches as they take bit more force to actuate and have a longer actuation distance, but I've read a lot of reviews of people saying that they're extremely loud.
Is that true? Are they really that loud and if so how do you put up with it?
Please respond to me if you have a keyboard with purple switches as it would be of great help making this decision :)

People just prefer the super loud Clicky switches. They are very loud. We dont "put up" with them, we love them BECAUSE they're super loud and Clicky. Go with the yellow switch on Blackwidow Elite if you're looking for heavier actuation and silence.

the one at target (the one with clicky optical) was noticeably smoother then the contact based ones, but the tactility was very similar. if you want good clicky, go for kailh box white/jade/navy/pink for mx based, and for everything else, look at chryossran22's video about the best clicky switches.
