Hi

Welcome to the Microsoft community.

In Microsoft Edge, you can use the following shortcuts to accomplish your needs:

Close all tabs: You can use Ctrl + Shift + W to close the current window, which will close all tabs. Additionally, you can turn off the option in the settings that requires confirmation to close all tabs.

edge://settings/accessibility

Open a new tab: You can use Ctrl + T to open a new tab and switch to it.

Resize Microsoft Edge to a fixed window size: For resizing Microsoft Edge to a fixed window size, there is currently no direct shortcut available. You need to manually adjust the window size.

Cant close Edge when clicking on the close icon on the top left or "close window"
Check under this setting. Make sure "Startup boost" and "Continue running background extensions and apps when Microsoft Edge is closed" are off. That way Edge will only be open/run when you want it to. This worked for me edit: turn off "Use graphics acceleration when avaliable" as well More on reddit.com

r/MicrosoftEdge on Reddit: Keyboard shortcut or extension for close tabs to the right?
March 8, 2024 -

I often browse with hundreds of tabs open. I typically find a cutoff point and use the right-click tab to close tabs to the right. Is there a hidden keyboard shortcut (my Google-fu/ChatGPT is failing me) to close tabs to the right of a tab using either a mouse shortcut, macro, or a keyboard shortcut?

Hi Kxky. I'm Greg, awarded MVP for eleven years, Volunteer Moderator, and Independent Advisor here to help you until this is resolved.

If you use a mouse button, you can click anywhere on the tab with the middle mouse button or pressing down scroll wheel to close the tab. If you use a touchpad there should be a gesture or shortcut for that.

If you'd prefer a keyboard shortcut to lose current tab. Instead of clicking the little X to close a tab, just hit Ctrl-W. If you did that by accident, hit Ctrl-Shift-T to open a previously closed tab.

I hope this helps. Feel free to ask back any questions and keep me posted. If you'll wait to rate whether my post resolved your problem, I will keep working with you until it's resolved.

Well it isn't always easy to hit the X even with a mouse on any browser so I use the middle mouse button. I'd think it would be easier with the finger. You can try to repair Edge to see if that helps:

I'll give you everything possible to fix Edge so at least something will work:

  1. If possible back up your Favorites first in Edge Hub (three dots top right of browser) > Favorites > Manage Favorites > Export to file: https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/143983-how-...

If you can't open Edge but another browser will open, then go into it's Settings to try to "Import from another Browser" your Edge Favorites so they are at least backed up.

  1. You can reset new Edge in Edge Settings > Reset Settings.
  2. You can also try the repairs here:

If you want to try Chrome here's how to get out of S mode prison:

I hope this helps. Feel free to ask back any questions and keep me posted. If you'll wait to rate whether my post resolved your problem, I will keep working with you until it's resolved.
