Like most people, I usually have several tabs open in Chrome browser. When I want to close the current tab, I am often finding myself using the same key combination in i3 that closes a window (which for me is $mod4+backspace). As a result I end up closing the Chrome window by mistake and have to relaunch it.

Is there any way I can use the same key to close the current tab instead of closing Chrome?

Does anybody know shortcut to close chrome window apart from the two mentioned above?

Recently I've caught myself accidentally closed a window using some shortcut but I don't know what. I am pretty sure it's not any of the above and I think it's a 2-key shortcut.

Essentially is there a way to configure a keyboard shortcut that is equivalent to clicking the "X" button in the titlebar of the currently active window?

I understand there's a semantic difference between closing a window or quitting an application, but in practice that's rarely applied consistently and it becomes a guessing game if it's CTRL+Q, CTRL+W, ESC … or nothing else at all.

Is there is any keyboard shortcut for closing tabs which are on the right of current tab ?

Hi there. I frequently use the option to close tabs to the right of an active tab by right clicking over the active tab, and then selecting the option to Close Multiple Tabs > Close Tabs to Right.

I'd love to be able to just use a keyboard trigger for that instead, given how often I use this feature. Is there a way to set something like this up at all?
