I'm moving from traditional hosting to cloud hosting but my old host provides email too. I have Authenticated SMTP Access with imap. I understand imap allows email to sync over devices, but I find email a confusing tech and no real interest in learning it! Basically I am wondering should I move my email to an smtp service like Mailgun or SendGrid, or elastic email, or should I leave my email alone and just move the host? I want to make sure I don't lose my several years of client emails, and I want to make sure I can use my Mac and iPhone to send and receive email as I currently do. thanks

I think you're confusing transactional and marketing email with personal email. Mailgun or SendGrid are made for sending email in large volumes, not for processing personal emails. I see that Cloudways offers a Rackspace Email Add-on for setting up personal mailboxes within Cloudways. You can also consider integrating your email inbox with Google G Suite.

If you are using your email for business purposes you should consider using something like Office 365 or G Suite as your email provider. Extra monthly cost could be worth it if deliverability is important to you. Separating your hosting and email provider is always a wise move.
