I know people asks a lot about code learning platforms but I haven't found a good answer yet.
I'm a biologist and I want to learn coding mainly for data science and data analysis (ideally from basic stuff like graph making and statistics all the way up to transcriptomics); I would like to learn both R and Python.
So far by checking several posts and reviews, I have made a shortlist of platforms that seem to be good according to the community but I can't decide on which one to spend my money on (ofc ideally I don't want to pay more than one!). So if you were to choose among these platforms, which one would pick?
-Datacamp
-Codeacademy
-Dataquest
-Udemy
-Or should I just go free with Freecodecamp?
I know there won't be an ultimate answer but I want to gather more information before committing to a platform. Please let me know your opinions and experiences! Strong opinions are specially welcome!

For data science and data analysis I would have said fist focus in statistics, but as a biologist you may have covered that already. I would say learn python fundamentals first with Automate the Boring Stuff or Python Crash Course (No Starch Press). ATBS is free online by the author. Learn Pandas, I believe that knowing python fundamentals will help you understand Pandas documentation (or any other package) so you don't feel like asking too much "Why Pandas is written like this?". I found a good tutorial very well explained in this github Pandas Tutorial SciPyConf 2018 also you can find a Pandas book written by the creator of Pandas free on his website Wes McKinney - Python for Data Analysis . I think the tutorial might be more user friendly at the beginning and then the book is for if you want to understand Pandas in a deeper level. After having the fundamentals of python and Pandas you can move into more specialized learning with statistics, Machine Learning or if you can find in your specific field.

I've been doing Udemy, it really depends on what course you buy, mine, the guy teaches you how to install and configure your IDE, so you can program with him and do the exercises along the course. I have two monitors, so I watch the classes on one, and write code on the other one, it's pretty interactive and I've learned a bunch of stuff so far. More on reddit.com

I’ve been using DataCamp since the start of the pandemic, and have recently completed the Professional Data Scientist Certification. DataCamp allowed me to bolster my skills to transition to working as a Data Scientist full time. Previously I was a mechanical engineer that used MATLAB in school and wrote some moderately difficult SQL queries. Now I’m a lead data scientist at a Fortune 200 company. I highly recommend DataCamp. Well technically its not wrong....From their track studied basically most of everything that falls within the definition and job description of Data Science.... Hello to everyone reading!!!
My name is Andrew I am 19 years old student.
Considering to start learning code and now I am picking the platform to start and stick with it at least a month to learn the basics of the basics.
Googled many websites like Udemy/Youtube/DataCamp/CodeAcademy/Brilliant
Udemy - Offer various videos and courses about many topics and good quality, but you do not have an option to interact with the code at the real time. I am writing down all I learned and then use PyCharm
YouTube - The same as Udemy, but in my opinion offer more basics quality video but its free.
DataCamp - I tried the free version of it. Until now it was an entertaining experience, But the trial ended and now it's 25bucks a month. Its offer a real time practice about what you learn and have good UX.
CodeAcademy - Used the paid option in the past. Lasted for a month(I think it's a problem in me and not the website). Plenty courses and topics to learn. Giving a good practice about what you learn even sometimes I googled things.
Brilliant - The best UX experience until now. But it's more about logical thinkings and less really coding. Should I consider it like secondary source?? (And that coming with paid subscription)?
WHAT TO PICK??? (OR I AM TOO MUCH TRYHARD ABOUT IT?)

I have just bought subscription for Datacamp and started to learn Python and SQL. I have tried codecademy a bit but didn’t really like it. Not that the content is bad but Datacamp platform is really nice and modern. It gaves taste to come back and learn. The content is well explained and there is a lot of practice, project and workout. All chapters 1 for the courses are accessible for free, you can try it out. They have also a 50% discount offer. I tried the course on PowerBI that I learn from scratch. Just after chapter 1 that took me 20 minutes to complete, I got basics and I could build a dashboard at my work.
