June 14, 2020 - Darcy's character doesn't display much emotion, but for the small bit he does, I think Macfadyen did a hell of a good job than any other actor (Firth coming in second). You can tell how much he loves and adores Elizabeth just by the wag he stares at her 💞 ... I actually think they both did a fantastic job. But I'm actually someone who studied Pride and Prejuduce at University. So I spend way too much time analysing on screen adaptations of any book. Matthew Macfayden was brilliant in portraying the raw emotion. The director just made that whole film so beautiful. Colin Firth, on the other hand, portrayed the first class, gentile, aristocratic English person, to the hilt.
