What vertical are you in? Interiors Engineering doesn't seem to be affected below the Director level, seems to just be middle/upper management swings to try and centralize the leadership a bit more. They did say that workday org would be updated on Monday but I'm not seeing anything yet Answer from snowmunkey on reddit.com

r/Raytheon on Reddit: What’s going on at Collins?
September 17, 2025 -

Previous posts have speculated lays offs coming October 30th with managers finding out who on their team is impacted last Friday/monday. I just had a senior leaders all hands move off my calendar and all of the transformation Hr leaders meetings pushed out several weeks. Is anyone hearing flow down from their function about transformation? It’s been very quiet since Troy sent his email yet we are supposed to realign to functional leadership at the beginning of November? I’m hoping other orgs are hearing more than mine is.

r/Raytheon on Reddit: Collins Aerospace layoff - never burn a bridge behind you
February 3, 2025 -

Well, it finally happened, in 1994, after sixteen years, I was laid-off from a big Aircraft supplier company, Hamilton Standard, Windsor Locks, Connecticut, the name back then. I left graciously, I had good job reviews & had several supervisors to give references. The company ended up moving about 85% of the work out to other locations. So my prospect of returning was very poor.

I transitioned from being an electronic technician/electrical engineering to computer networking. Now fourteen years later I was being laid-off from an insurance software company. It was the day after my mother’s funeral & my employer knew it, those rotten people. (trying very hard to leave the profanity out) I was laid off, just bad luck, this was a 15% company lay-off. My supervisor had tears walking me to my car & she only said four words thru the entire process, “I wish your well.” I would have just LOVED to say something nasty, I almost did, but then remembered, not to burn a bridge.

So, now unemployed in my early fifties, it’s not easy getting employed at your later years. I find that much of my computer work is being outsourced to India, multiple companies told me the same, so I am in a bind.

Just by luck, I looked at my old Aircraft supplier company, now named Hamilton Sundstrand, I see an advertisement for aircraft component repair. They have a small REPAIR operation still there. (aircraft component repair is VERY, VERY profitable)

I apply & in the interview, I was asked who I worked for, now fifteen years later… I was shocked, all my old supervisors were still there (somewhere) & later found out that they all gave me GLOWING recommendations! I have been back fourteen years now, adding to my old pension, average at an higher salary calculation, fattening up my 401K & ready to retire. I never imagined going back to this old company.

It took fifteen years to see the benefit, but it paid-off!

Please remember, never burn a bridge behind you! Also keep a list of contacts for future employment networking, it’s very important.

At the time I was laid off in 1994, I had two young children in grammar school & it seemed like the end of the world, but please hang in there. Life will get better.

I have been retired from Collins Aerospace in Windsor Locks two years now & love every minute of it, however it would not have been possible if I burned that bridge.

r/Raytheon on Reddit: Collins June Layoffs: SBU Consolidation and Tactical/Non Tactical will merge across all SBUs
January 28, 2025 -

(Throwaway account for obvious reasons)

Just wanted to give a quiet heads-up — there’s another mass layoff coming in June tied to SBU consolidation. Think of it like the CAS-into-Avionics move, where overlapping functions were merged and redundant roles cut.

I’ve also heard that Collins is planning to merge product and non-product teams into one structure, which will likely impact duplicate functions across both groups. From what I understand, there may be one more layoff before June as well.

If you think you could be affected, it’s a good idea to get your resume updated and start exploring options now — better to be early than caught off guard.

December 8, 2024 - They only report layoffs. So because of your observation bias, it looks like it's all layoffs all the time. 5 salaried people were laid off today. 5. That's it. And when money line goes back up, they'll get hired right back.

r/Layoffs on Reddit: Why do companies layoff people who are loyal and been there a while? Also Ai and outsourcing is it a major factor now? How to stay positive?
October 11, 2025 -

I worked with my company 9 years 11 months. I thought I was safe I had perfect reviews, great numbers and the backing of my immediate boss. Didn't matter. Bean counters ruled downsizing from every department.

They said i wasn't let go do to performance but the downsizing. Does this mean I made too much for what I did since I was there so long? I also just had surgery over the summer, could my 3 weeks pto for that affected the decision?

I found out mid day Friday, no warning. Just a teams invite with head manager and hr lady. I am lucky I got a few months severence, some don't get that, but now have this 8 page exit letter to sign. My boss said he found out that morning and had fought for me not to be gone but they ignored him. I did the work of at least 2 people and had for years.

I know two things changed in the last few years. One we got bought out by a larger company a few years back, this company allowed some outshoring of 3rd shift work to the Philippines and other nations, probably paying peanuts. Where before maybe I could of changed positions, now they are covered.

Then there is Ai. In the last two months we each had to give my boss 2 things where we think Ai could improve productivity and make the job easier. I had a bad feeling about it then, but dismissed it. I was safe, so I thought.

What makes it worse is I am still recovering from leg surgeries. I worked from home and I could at least deal with elevating my legs during the day or walking around. I can't do anything where I have to walk more than 20 to 30 minutes until I heal which may take a few months. That leaves me limited in options. I'm in my 40s. If this was 25 years ago, I'd go work in a warehouse. I can't do that now.

I know I shouldnt feel guilt and shame, but it's there. Pestering me. Gnawing at my inner being. I am afraid I won't find anything that I can do. I have 15 plus years in desktop support both tier 1 and 2 as well as website design (although that web stuff was pre responsive site era and out of date).

How do you all stop the doom and gloom and stay positive?

Seems like layoffs are hitting across RTX again, and the rumors were true.

How are things looking where you are? Any updates or trends you’ve noticed?

To anyone impacted — my sincere condolences. I know words don’t fix it, but I hope you’re finding support, whether through your network, community, or even here. Losing a job doesn’t define your worth — you’ve still got talent, experience, and value to bring.

Let’s use this thread to share updates, resources, or even encouragement. A little solidarity goes a long way.

r/Raytheon on Reddit: Laid off thread

A place for details from actual affected ex-employees.

I was laid off today. M6 with over 2 decades. 60 years old. Entire career in aerospace. Standard severance indicated.

As for me, I am well prepared and was planning to retire early in the next few months anyway, so this is actually a tidy bonus.

I started as a P1 equivalent and have managed people many times over the years, and made the company many hundreds of millions. My biggest gripe, although I understand secret sudden layoffs, is the lack of respect. At some age and professional level and “tenure” I wish the company would allow some time to look for an internal move. But, if you work for a large company you must always be prepared for the boot. If you’re not laid off, that is my one piece of career advice, no matter your age.

My sincere best wishes to those under the boot. Edit: FYI I was in Collins central engineering.
