I have the same skin tone. Cool delicate olive. I'm pretty sure we watched the same Youtube video! I knew I was a deep winter, but a lot of those bright, saturated cool colors (e.g. royal blue, bright fuschia, clear purple) that I was supposed to look good in would wash me out. I was confused as hell until I saw that video. I completely agree with the lady in the video that muted, cool tones are the way to go! Bright, saturated colors are the devil (unless they're accents such as slivers of bright white in an outfit). Although I do find I can wear super saturated colors if they're extremely dark. My best color, by FAR, is blue. Blue, blue, blue, but a very particular shade of blue. I can pull off some very muted reds, but in general I stay away from the red end of the color spectrum entirely because it really clashes with the green of my skin. (FYI, I go for lavender/lilac rather than pink blushes. Give it a try, I promise you it works.) My optimal colors below are all muted: Peacock blue (see here ) Prussian blue! (this color is utter joy and happiness ). My absolute favorite color to wear! Watch out, though, because for me this shade only looks good if it's dark enough. On this chart : RV154 twister blue, RV162 deep blue, RV163 poseydone blue, RV147 pegasus blue Dark preppy navy. (There are some navy shades that are beautiful. In particular, The Gap carries this specific navy if you want to take a look.) Deep maroon (flickers between purple and brown depending on the light) or very, very dark blood red. On this chart : Very close to RV77 night red and RV93 slendhal red. RV3007 cherokee red maybe, but definitely not RV169 taurus red. Deep, muted plum (the color the lady's wearing in the video). On the chart, I think it's RV92 gaudi red. Deep, royal purple (surprisingly saturated, but it's very dark and is a very particular shade of purple with nearly no red in it whatsoever). Aritzia calls this shade "royal", if that helps. On the chart : closest to RV28 cosmos violet and RV27 vampire violet. Very light, silver grey (so light it's almost white, but not pure white). Deep, charcoal grey. (Interestingly, I've noticed I don't do well with mid-range greys. They need to be either very light or very dark.) All cool icy tones (icy blue, icy pink, icy yellow, etc.) Needless to say, stay away from all pastels like they're COVID-19-carrying diseased plague rats. Definitely stay away from any and all very warm tones, obviously (e.g. khaki, ochre, etc.). I also try and stay away from greens (especially olive!), unless they're very bright emerald or juniper - she mentions why this works for cool delicate olives in the video. I'm a very high contrast profile, though. I have black hair with vampire white skin. So I'll always go for the highest contrast, muted shades. These won't work for everyone. I also have a warm light olive skin tone and the one that looks best on me is Puff! I’ve tried like 5 of them. I was weary of the bright pink bc pink lipstick doesn’t work with my skin tone but it’s actually sooo nice! I thought I’d like the orange one for the same reasons you described but it really didn’t work well for me. Storm didn’t do much either. It just seemed to be too dark/stark whereas the Puff looks brightening and more natural. Beam is also solid, but puff is the one! I realized this after using Nars Orgasm blush and realizing that type of pink looked so good! More on reddit.com
