I have observed that Bollywood lacks good comedy movies like 3 idiots, Golmaal 1 , Golmaal 3, welcome, hera pheri etc in past few years. I haven't seen a really good comedy film in last few years which became a blockbuster and gave a genuine laugh.
Most of the recent comedy films

lack audience taste

no innovative jokes (some still use WhatsApp forward jokes )

have cringe content

Overacting by actors

actors lacking comedic timing and expressions

wrong casting. Like actors who are capable of doing comedy are ignored (like Sharman joshi , Kunal kemu , akshay kumar etc) or they are not doing it for some purpose.

i think comedy is one of the hardest genres to act AND to write, people often forget about the writing part. there are comedy movies out there, but the writing falls short, and if you put an actor who half asses acting, it’s bound to fail. also everyone has different styles of humor. i found bhediya to be funny, like i literally had tears in my eyes watching the first half of that movie, but i know people on here didn’t like that movie, so it also depends on personal style. and to top it all of, i don’t see people going to the theaters to watch a comedy movie (saying this as someone who lives in america). it’s seems very OTT.
