Thickness in sheet vinyl is not a direct correlation to durability. Commercial products are often thinner than many residential options. Go to some stores an ask to see their light commercially rated sheet vinyl and it will be more than good enough for your house. It won't be super cheap though on par with good click lock products. Mannington, Beauflor Blacktex, Tarkett trutex, Tarkett High street, Beauflor Xtreme, Mohawk Aladdin Visionary II, Armstrong Stratamax pro, Armstrong Cushion Step Better, Congoluem ArmorCore all are good (there are others I didn't mention not because they aren't good but because I didn't remember the name). All floors need to be maintained, you may find a cleaning regimen that works for you, but NO floor is impervious to what people can do to them. Modern sheet vinyl's (almost all modern finishes) do not need to be wax like the old stuff did so don't do it unless the manufacture says to because it can cause some serious visual issues. It replaced a 36-year-old linoleum sheet floor, and is so much nicer and seems like it will last a really long time. We didn't use big box stores - we went to a local independent carpet & tile store. I haven't installed it yet, but I went with the Armstrong Amalfi Black vinyl that this lady posted about: https://www.create-enjoy.com/2019/06/how-to-lay-sheet-vinyl-flooring.html They have different grades of durability and softness, and loads of finish styles. It looks surprisingly good. I prefer this stuff over the pointless LVP trend. More on reddit.com

Sheet vinyl has come a long way, and looks very realistic now. But for a DIY, plank is almost always going to be easier to install than 12' sheets with full spread adhesives and seaming (don't buy into the 'looselay' sheet vinyls, they tend to gouge/rip really easily ) More on reddit.com
