People also ask

What are the different types of API endpoints?
There are several main types of API endpoints, including RESTful, SOAP, and GraphQL endpoints. RESTful endpoints are known for their flexibility and popularity, SOAP endpoints offer robust security through WS-Security standards, and GraphQL endpoints allow precise data querying from a single endpoint. Each type has unique advantages depending on your project requirements.

What are API endpoints and why are they important?
API endpoints act as communication gateways that allow different software applications to interact with each other. They're crucial because they manage HTTP requests and data transfer, enabling seamless communication between clients and servers. Well-designed endpoints are essential for modern websites and applications to function effectively.

How should I version REST API endpoints?
The two common patterns are URL path versioning (/v1/customers) and header-based versioning (Accept: application/vnd.example.v1+json). URL versioning is simpler and easier to debug; header versioning keeps URLs cleaner. Pick one and stick with it. Always treat the version as a contract and avoid breaking changes within a version.

Endpoints
Cloud API supports the following subset of HTTP methods: GET - Used to request resources. POST - Used to create resources. Also used to execute business actions, such as quoting a submission or submitting a claim. PATCH - Used to update resources. DELETE - Used to delete resources. Every endpoint supports one or more of these methods. For example, in the Common API:

r/golang on Reddit: Where should I store common functions for API endpoints?
January 2, 2023 -

I have around 10 API endpoints and they share quite a few lines of similar code.

My current folder structure for the API endpoint handlers look like this:
handlers\add\add.go
handlers\delete\delete.go
...

At the beginning and end of each endpoint I do the same things (validation, logging...). I want to create functions for these because I just copy-pasted them to each file.
Where should I store these functions? My idea is to create a common folder:
handlers\common\common.go

Is it a good practice or should I name it differently?
Should I put it into the handlers folder or somewhere else?

I know there are many solutions for this but I'm looking for good practice.

I wanted to create middlewares first but I use the result of these later in the code so that's not a good solution as I would have to pass the result of the middleware to the endpoint handler.
