You need to capture the current values of loop variables when the lambda is created. Otherwise the function will read the value of those variables in the scope of its creation at the time it is invoked.

It can be done via argument defaults:

part = lambda theta,phi, x=x, y=y, z=z, k=k: (N.cos(theta)**(0.5))*N.sin(theta)*N.exp(-1j*k*(x*N.sin(theta)*N.cos(phi) + y*N.sin(theta)*N.sin(phi) - z*N.cos(theta)))

function - How to read and break down complex lambda equations in python - Stack Overflow
First, take note that you can change the symbol for a function. For example, lambda x: x can be changed to lambda z: z. As there are a lot of x and y, we will change the symbols to reduce the confusion. Copydef combinator(y): return (lambda w: lambda z: w(z))(lambda x:y) combinator(lambda x:x*10)(11)(12)

numpy - Python lambda with complex number - Stack Overflow
I have a lambda function called 'part' which depends on the variables theta and phi. If you cycle through the list of returned lambda functions (d4[0],d4[1],etc.) you will see that all of them return a complex number where the imaginary component is 0, regardless of the theta,phi values that ... Is it possible to have multiple statements in a python lambda expression? - Stack Overflow
Just to clarify, function calls are not considered to be statements in Python, they are expressions. So this list is just a list of expressions, which may all be None. 2015-01-13T22:55:41.68Z+00:00 ... I think this works because when dynamically analyzing the collection passed to the lambda the ... Why do some people hate lambda?
I'm pretty sure the main complaint people have with lambdas in Python is the syntax. It's ugly. Anonymous functions as a concept are great. They can however be abused or overused. And if you ever find yourself assigning a lambda to a name, make it a named function using def instead. Also, most programmer humor is written by people who are just beginning their journey into programming and don't always understand the nuance behind certain things. Programming humor does not reflect the overall view of the community as a whole. More on reddit.com

July 24, 2020 - We already compared these with their corresponding lambda functions in our three examples above. Normal functions have a number of advantages that the lambda syntax does not allow. Normal functions have a name, which allows us to clarify our intention. With a complex lambda function you might find yourself writing a comment to describe what it does.
