CompTIA gives people THREE YEARS to get 50 CEUs. That's less than 1.5 PER MONTH. It's incredibly easy to knock out that requirement if you don't wait until the last minute. CompTIA is rather generous with accepting CEU credits. I occasionally attend webinars and submit them to CompTIA (and other cert organizations) for credit. Most of my CompTIA certs are good through 2028. The soonest I have to renew any of my CompTIA certs is 2025. More on reddit.com

The CompTIA page only says "Typically three years after launch." SY0-601 Security+ was launched November 12, 2020. That usually means that the replacement (presumably SY0-701) will release in November of 2023 and the exam for the existing/older one will retire six months later - about mid-May of 2024. So, if some form of cybersec is in your career future, it is certainly worth pursuing the current SY0-601 Security+ certification. There is plenty of time to prepare and test. Best in your studies! Where did you see that SY0-701 will release on July 31st? CompTIA has not posted a release date - not even to the educational partners who create courseware for the exam. SY0-601 Security+ was launched November 12, 2020. That usually means that the replacement (presumably SY0-701) will release in November of 2023 (3 years later) and the exam for the existing/older one will retire six months after that - about mid-May of 2024. (There is a normally a six-month overlap where the new exam and the old exam are both offered) So, if some form of cybersec is in your career future, it is certainly worth pursuing the current SY0-601 Security+ certification. There's plenty of time. As has been pointed out, passing whichever exam is offered at a given time makes you Security+ certified. Your certificate doesn't say SY0-601 or SY0-701. Is says "Security+" and is good for three years from the date you pass the exam, irrespective of any exams are retired or new ones that are offered during those three years. Best in your studies!
