My budget Is 300-400$
I have a computer, currently I have an Asus motherboard with an intel I5 9400f. My gpu is a rx6700xt. I want to upgrade my CPU, and motherboard. My CPU always runs at 100% while my gpu uses 60-70% of its power, so I think this is a bottleneck issue. I also want to be able to upgrade easily in the future, so I'm looking at the newer am5 and intel 1700 motherboards. I want a CPU with better performance and if possible I want a CPU that supports resizable bar.
I live in the USA and I expect some sales on PC components during Thanksgiving week (and beyond), but I'm unsure what to look for. This is where you come in! Please advise which AMD CPU and a Micro-ATX motherboard combo I should be looking for.
This combo is destined to end up in a gaming PC. It will replace 11th gen Intel CPU with motherboard that can only take 11th gen Intel CPUs max (Gygabyte B560M DS3H rev 1.0). I figured that if I want to upgrade now, I should upgrade both motherboard and the CPU. Given the issues with the 13th and 14th gen Intel CPUs, it seems that moving to AMD is the best decision right now. If the recommended motherboard is not a Micro-ATX and will not fit in the existing case, I can upgrade the case as well.
Surviving the old CPU and MoBo are:
- MSI A850GL power supply (850W)
- Gigabyte RTX 4070 Super
- 64GB (2x 32GB) Kingston DIMMs
- 2TB Samsung 980 Pro NVMe drive
- The case to host this Micro-ATX motherboard
Obviously, I want to reuse all of these, but can upgrade case and RAM if necessary.
Budget is somewhat flexible: up to $700 (and a little beyond as needed).
Hi everyone, I'm no overworked father but I might need some help still. I was looking to upgrade my CPU as my task manager tells me it is peaking when playing games like Baldur's Gate 3 and Satisfactory with friends. I looked at a few more posts on the subreddit but the fact that I don't know anything about what makes computer parts with similar specs superior to each other or their compatibilities with each other scared me away from just making a decision off other people's cases.
I tried looking up good CPU and Motherboard combos so my tiny mind wouldn't have to worry about possible incompatibilities and saw reasons why Intel or AMD suck from different sides, but no definitive reliable choice seconded by more than 2 people.
My setup off Geforce:
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060
Inter(R) Core(TM) i5-6600K CPU @ 3.50GHz
31.91 GB RAM
and off of system information:
BaseBoard Manufacturer: ASUSTeK COMPUTER INC
BaseBoard Product: B150I PRO GAMING/WIFI/AURA
BaseBoard Version: Rev X.0x
As you can see by how I displayed the info, I have no idea what I'm doing, so if you guys spend any of your time on my problem I would like to thank you in advance.
My budget is $300 but if there's something that would future proof my computer to at least play games on the lowest setting for the next decade I would go to $400.
Thanks again and I hope this doesn't count as a spoonfeeding request; I would be happy with advice or which websites/forums I should try to use just as well.
Edit: extra info; Although my current motherboard is Mini, my case is normal size. I have 2X16 GB Crucial DDR4 Pro RAM sticks. If it's important my power supply is DeepCool DA700. My only cooling is one case-side fan.
