Canada computers is worth it in my experience, mega computers is pretty much always a bad experience for me and it gives me the feeling of a low rent pawn shop. But that was like 5 years ago.

There are a few shops, but just know that the resale value of a gaming PC is trash. If you where to build a $5k "gaming PC" and turn around and try and sell it used right away don't expect to get much more than $1k at any store. The other thing to keep in mind. Every day you don't sell it its loosing value. So drop your price fairly significantly to make it move. The other thing to keep in mind, Its not worth nearly what you think it is. Source: I used to buy and sell "used" gaming computers at a shop I would help out at.. I offered garbage prices for them as they are hard to sell.. No one wants your "used" gaming PC. Well it would depend on your internet connection speeds but something everyone should do is on the task bar search, look for "delivery optimization", open it, enable both options and put both bars to 100%. Windows will use all resources to download apps and games faster. More on reddit.com

I’m in the north west Chicago suburbs. I haven’t built a PC in 15 years but my 7 year old kid wants a gaming PC for Christmas. Is there an actual store where I can buy parts these days? Back when I built my last PC I could go to Tiger Direct and grab what I wanted but they’re not around anymore. Anyone know where I could go shopping. I’d rather not have to buy everything online.

Microcenter has two locations- one in Westmont and one on the near north side of Chicago. They're (sadly) one of few remaining hardware brick-and-mortar places.
