Oooh are you conflating blank confirmations and negative confirmations? Blank confirms are a type of positive confirmation, but it’s blank and you ask the recipient to give the number they have on their end. This would be used when assessing a high level of risk, because you’re being very intentional and specific on the info you’re confirming. Negative confirmations are just confirms listing the value or balance of the account, and the recipient can choose to ignore it or reach out to correct the number. So for clients where we’ve assessed lower risk, we could use this.

Negative and blank confirmations are very different. The blank one they actually write in the amount owed so it's accurate but you get less back. Negative they don't reply unless it's wrong- good for a lot of small accounts.
