Basically just the title. Does it mean that I was supposed to lose the game? If so, I find it pretty sad, why even start a game if the matchmaker knows who is going to win. Is it just for balance or something ? This is a serious question.

not so much that you were supposed to lose, that the other team was more likely to win. In a perfect world there would always be perfectly balanced teams playing against each other every match, but the likelihood of finding 10 people with the exact same skill level at the same rank on the same servers that are all queuing at the exact same time is astronomically low. so, sometimes the system puts teams together that are close in skill, but ultimately one may be more likely to win than the other. That’s when you get consolation.

The matchmaker has an acceptable margin for error since perfect games aren’t always possible. When a game is slightly favored against you, but still in this margin, you get consolation bonuses when you lose and uphill battle bonuses when you win.
