I got a latex topper from Sleep on Latex and it’s great. I have the 2 inch soft. It’s super comfy, soft enough for a side sleeper with wide hips, but you don’t really sink into it. I’d probably recommend a 5 inch if your mattress is super firm. Edit: 2 inch not 3 Answer from maple_stars on reddit.com

What's the Difference Between a Mattress Pad and a Mattress Topper or Mattress Protector?
A mattress pad is thinner and designed to provide a bit of comfort and protection for your mattress. Mattress toppers are thicker and meant to change the feel of a bed when you lay on it. Mattress protectors (or mattress encasements) surround a mattress on all sides and are meant for heavy duty protection. Each of these products serves a different core need. If your focus is maximum protection against spills and allergens, you’ll want a mattress encasement. If your focus is on maximum change to the feel of the mattress, a mattress topper is best. If you want something that falls in between, def

How Do I Clean My Mattress Pad?
Follow the manufacturer’s instructions to clean any specific mattress pad – they know their product best.Generally speaking, most mattress pads can be machine-washed and machine-dried on gentle or low-heat settings, but the best washer and dryer settings can vary depending on the pad’s materials. Some pads also can’t be cleaned in a washer or dryer, so double-check the manufacturer’s instructions.

How Does a Mattress Pad Attach to the Bed?
Almost all mattress pads use elastic to connect to the bed and stay in place. The most common way that this elastic is deployed is by sewing it into the perimeter of the pad. A skirt or side panel goes over the sides of the mattress, and the skirt has elastic placed either in the corners only or in a continuous band that goes around the full hem. In this way, these mattress pads resemble a fitted sheet. In some cases, a mattress pad does not have a skirt or side panels and uses elastic straps in each corner to go under the mattress and hold the pad in place. Pads with straps are prone to shiftin

r/moderatelygranolamoms on Reddit: What is the best mattress topper you've got and found it really worth every penny?
September 29, 2025 -

There are two things i want you to avoid when you are buying a mattress topper.

The first thing is not paying attention to density. Memory foam, conventional foam, they're all thermoreactive materials, so with you+your partner+all of your pets, all of that heat and pressure, it's going to make it harder for a lowdensity mattress topper to actually support you and do its job. In fact....it's probably going to look like an old kitchen sponge instead of something that belongs on your bed.

A highdensity mattress topper has enough material to actually combat all of that and support you throughout the night. In fact there's going to be a little bit more air moving through that mattress topper too to help disperse some of the heat, so you'll actually stay a little bit cooler too. But high density, always a good thing.

And the second thing is.....you want to get a mattress topper that is deep enough for you. So you'll look at options that have 2 in, 3 in, or 4 in, something like that. And the way I like to think about it is this: if you're going to go diving, you dont want to do it in the 3ft end of the pool, you want to do it in the 10 or 12T section of the pool. Okay, if you need to get something that allows your body to sink in enough and still support you, especially if you're a bigger guy or gal, you're going to want to look at the 4 in and 3in options. If you're a lot smaller or if it's for a child or college kid, something like that, 2 in might be totally fine for them.

But in any case, my general advice is that if you have enough money to spring for something that gives you a little bit more cushion....in fact, anything in the US that's over 4 in is actually considered a mattress, then a magical little comma appears and you donnt need that. Because most of the comfort comes in the first 3-4" of a mattress anyway, so you can get 80 to 90% of the feeling of a brand new mattress by getting a 3-4" mattress topper.

And here are my recommendations of the top mattress topper in today's market that are worth a look.

Best Mattress Toppers Currently That Can Help You With Back Pain

  • Saatva Graphite memory foam mattress topper

  • Tempur Pedic Adapt topper

  • Helix GlacioTex Premium Mattress Topper

  • Puffy Deluxe

  • DreamFoam Gel Swirl Memory Foam Mattress Topper

  • Bear Pro Topper

Tbh you dont have to buy a whole new mattress just to make your bed comfortable enough.

Mattress toppers are economical ways to make a bed either softer or firmer, and find a suitable partner for your mattress it might feel like you hit the jackpot, a very blissful and rejuvenating sleep.

These are also high-end products, so expect a more luxe feel with all the high-quality materials and better craftsmanship.
