Has anybody had any success in contesting a parking ticket? Is there any advice I need to heed or do I just angrily pay the fines while shaking my fist?
For context: In August I went to have dinner with a friend, parked on the street and paid at the meter. After dinner I left with no indication there was anything wrong.
Fast forward to two weeks ago, I started receiving random texts from a collection agency that I initially dismissed as spam until I looked into it. These collections texts are the first contact I’ve had regarding a ticket. There was nothing under my wiper and I never received a notification in the mail.
The ticket itself makes no sense, saying I failed to display a receipt, but I wouldn’t have a receipt if I paid with an app and I don’t recall these machines giving receipts.
So do I have a shot at contesting this, or at least getting the fine down to the original amount before all the penalties and late fees?
I recently got my first Chicago parking ticket. I parked the car and paid online on the app just after walking 2-5 mins from the car. In that time I have been issued a parking ticket for 70 usd. Is it possible to contest the ticket online or mail and in person are the only options? This was on Dearborn St.
My parking session on the app starts at 2 15 pm and the ticket was issued at 2 16 pm. What are my options?

My question, is whether there is a legal difference between these - are my rights impacted by which I choose? Are they all a judicial process where a judge reviews them? Or do I lose some rights by doing it online - maybe an administrative review process run by someone who isn't a judge? Does anyone have any insight on this?
