I had a shark break a few years back. The local vacuum repair shop I took it to told me they can almost never fix sharks because they apparently don't make or sell spare parts. This may have changed but that is my experience with Shark. Answer from Deleted User on reddit.com

Best Cordless Stick Vacuum (so far by brand)
Please avoid all Shark vacuums, they break more often, they are unrepairable, and their warranties exclude most of the parts. Dysons are above average for performance but they are more expensive and sell features that are flashy but don't improve cleaning ability. Example the laser sounds cool but an led headlight would work on both hard floors and carpets. Always look for removable and replaceable batteries because they all wear out in 2-5 years. Look for replacement parts, some of the Amazon brands have no replacements whatsoever. Among cordless stick vacuums I like the LG CordZero series and the Samsung Jet 75 and Jet 90. I don't recommend the dual brushroll versions as they add complexity, lack suction to the soft brushroll, and have a higher failure rate. If you have all or mostly carpets a cordless upright vacuum would be better such as the Hoover Onepwr Hepa Bagged/Oreck Hepa Cordless, Simplicity Freedom/Riccar Supralite, and Karcher Sensor BP 12. Buy a Small Handheld Vacuum
But don’t get one with a cord! Get one that docks. I had a docked one but “upgraded” to a cord one and having to plug it in is apparently a barrier that makes me not reach for it More on reddit.com

Budget - $200

Areas - This is specifically for dog hair removal. 90% of the area is carpet, stairs, edges of the room, hard to reach places. Bonus - being able to clean dog hair in my car.

I am looking for a handheld vacuum recommendation that has a lot of strength for cleaning up dog hair on carpet (on stairs, along the edges, etc). I would like a corded one as they would normally imply a stronger vacuum. It's very tiring carrying my full size vacuum around to use an attachment to clean stairs, edges, etc. I have bought a couple handheld cordless vacuums in the passed and they have all been pretty mediocre, hoping I can break that cycle! Thanks in advance.

The current one I am considering is the Shark CH950UKT.

As far as little handheld vacuum cleaners go, there is nothing amazing on the market, but there are some decent ones like the one for which you are looking. For ones on the market today, the one that you mentioned would do the job fine. Sure, Shark does not have great parts availability or service, but it would just be for getting little jobs here and there. If it breaks, I would assume it is not that huge of a deal. As far as suction and airflow numbers go for that Shark, it is a fairly impressive little thing. The build quality is nothing special, but not worse than any other little Chinese thing. Just make sure you keep the filters clean! Hoover also makes a handheld vacuum cleaner that I like called the ONEPWR Blade MAX "AutoVac" , although there is nothing stating that it cannot be used in a house. It does a lot of the same things as the Shark models, just with a hose that I like a lot and a better battery setup with two batteries. Also, it is more powerful by quite a bit. I would say that the main thing the Shark has over the Hoover is that the Hoover is more bulky, but the Hoover also is able to have a bigger bin with a more effective cyclone setup in it. Like the Shark, the quality is nothing spectacular, but it functions in its designed purpose.

r/CleaningTips on Reddit: Recommendation request: a decent cordless hand vacuum?
May 2, 2023 -

I almost titled this post "A decent cordless hand vacuum that doesn't suck" but then realized that a "vacuum that sucks" is exactly what I want, hehe.

Anyway, many years back, I had a Dustbuster, and I think most people will recall that they were terrible. Didn't hold a charge, and even on full charge barely had any sucking power.

I'm looking for a small hand-vac to keep upstairs. Our light colored south facing house gets inundated with ladybugs in the autumn (when they come inside to hibernate) and spring (when they come out of hibernation) and it's annoying to have to constantly drag the regular vacuum around to deal with them.

I should mention that I'm not talking about just a couple ladybugs here and there... if that were the case, we'd pick them up and put them outside. I'm talking dozens upon dozens. Daily.

Anyway, after too much backstory, can anyone recommend a good hand-vac? Have they improved at all in the past 30 years?

Thanks!
