I just got core temp, what does all of this mean?
Probably should read through the documentation from the site you downloaded from, but essentially this is giving you a readout of your cpu, such as its details (what type your have), and the measurements of the temperature of the processor and each core (each stacked dye most likely has a temp readout or they use the same, doesn’t matter much). CPUs are designed to “withstand” temperatures in the ranges of 40-100 degrees Celsius (C, not F). Most CPU’s are comfortable at 30-50 idle (this depends on a number of things and your build). With the right cooling and heat control, you could push the CPU past 100 C, but it’s not recommended, especially for a CPU designed for a laptop. Laptops are notorious for bad heat dissipation and cooling. They are just not designed for that (designed for portability). With that said, if you look at the first column for each core, your current temp reads are… decent. However your tdie reading (the actual physical portion of your cpu) is at almost 60*C at idle (little to no load), that’s no bueno. Tells me that you either have bad heat dissipation, your thermal cooling system is not set up correctly, or just bad airflow. If you use this for gaming expect to have those temps increase significantly. If you push the cpu past safe temps, it will burn out again More on reddit.com

Software warning: Coretemp
CoreTemp itself is fine. Just download the standalone version of the program and NOT the installer . Here are the direct links... 64-bit: http://www.alcpu.com/CoreTemp/php/download.php?id=3 32-bit: http://www.alcpu.com/CoreTemp/php/download.php?id=2 As with many Windows programs these days you often find other crap bundled in the installer (a.k.a. potentially unwanted applications ) since this enables the developer to make money from their free software. In the case of CoreTemp that's the Somoto Toolbar . That doesn't mean you should avoid the program itself, but at the same time you shouldn't blindly download and install third-party software without checking first to see if the installer contains additional unwanted programs. For simple programs like CoreTemp and CPU-Z I always download the portable or standalone version since that's the best way to avoid having other crap installed on your PC. More on reddit.com
