Vintage Corelle Dishes
I was curious, so I went to the Corelle website and only found this: "Corelle dinnerware has come in many different patterns over the years since it was first introduced by Corning and continued with Instant Brands, and many vintage/legacy pieces have become cherished collectors’ items. Before 2000, and before tighter lead content safety regulations, a small amount of lead was an ingredient in the decorating process of many household products. Instant Brands has conducted additional testing with an outside laboratory to determine whether vintage Corelle products made before 2000 comply with today’s consumer [your] expectations as to safety and whether it’s ok to use them as everyday dinnerware. The Company selected multiple patterns of vintage Corelle products, dating back to 1978 for testing. The food surface contact testing was designed to identify whether any small amount of lead that may have existed in pre-2000 manufactured Corelle product leaches from the product in amounts above today’s acceptable lead-safety regulations. The small amount of lead used in decorations pre-2000 was encapsulated in glass before and after the decoration was applied to product and fired to above 750C. The Corelle manufacturing process has always encapsulated decoration in glass, using extremely high processing temperatures to ensure the glass decorations are sealed, which prevents food contact and intentionally decreases the extent of any lead migration to food. The testing confirms that the vintage products tested comply with current FDA lead-safety regulations – so feel free to use them for everyday dinnerware." So it sounds like you can keep and use all your treasured vintage dishes. Unless someone finds science saying otherwise. More on reddit.com

I want to buy a set of vintage Corelle called Forever Yours. I've read alot of different things about lead content. Are these safe to use?
Corelle dishes are made by encasing the decoration in glass, so any lead in the pattern is held safely in a glass sandwich. I'm not familiar with when this pattern was produced, but Corelle states on their website that dishware produced between 1978-1999 is safe to use. https://corelle.com/pages/frequently-asked-questions More on reddit.com

Followup on potential lead contamination in vintage Corelle dishes
My wife is a vintage pottery and ceramics collector and she lead tests everything she considers bringing into the house and we’ve been eating off the blue corelle for a decade now. So either it’s fine or she’s trying to kill us More on reddit.com

They’ve lasted since the 70s and still look pristine. Just got four shipments of four classic styles. I was originally going to buy newer ones, but I’m a sucker for anything 50s-70s, especially if it’s BIFL quality. Dishwashing vintage plates? You bet! Here’s to making them antiques!

June 17, 2024 - I use the plates every day and it's perfect safe!! If you're looking for a good place to find pieces I really recommend mercari, I've been able to find some with decent prices in near perfect condition, I searched both "corelle forever yours" and "vintage corelle forever yours" and made sure to toggle on the tracker so I get notifications when new listings go up

How to Identify Corelle Patterns
June 17, 2022 - According to How to Tell If, this pattern was consistently printed on Corelle products, making it one of the most common patterns and most straightforward to locate. However, other vintage patterns are more difficult to find, such as the blue heather pattern, which was manufactured between 1976 and 1977. The blue heather pattern was printed on the center of the plate instead of as a border.
