So I just bout a 3 pack of the SP120, when I booted up the lights where on but the fan blades where not spinning
Do you have them hooked up to a controller or motherboard?
If you have them on a controller from Corsair you need to set them up in iCUE software. You have to load iCUE and go to the controller and select the type of fans and how many you have
The fans have two headers, one for RGB and one for power. It sounds like you only have the RGB headers plugged in.
I'm assuming you're using a Lighting Node Core since you have the SP120 PRO RGB fans. This device does not allow you to adjust the RPM and only adjusts the RGB/LEDs.
The Commander Pro is our only controller that allows you to adjust the RPM and Lighting. If you don't have this device, make sure you have the secondary 3-pin header plugged into your motherboard or a fan controller.
Hello everyone,
I did a lot of research but couldn't find my answer on Google so here I am.
I just finished building my new Lian-Li O11 Dynamic rig and of course I bought as much RGB fans as possible to showcase the build. I just picked up 6x SP120 RGB Pro and installed them today. The 3-pin fans work fine (currently plugged directly into 4-pin headers on the motherboard, I'm ordering a fan splitter to power the remaining 3 fans), the RGB 4-pin are plugged into the Lighting Node Core that comes included in each 3-pack fan kit. That is powered by a SATA cable (the same SATA cable that's also powering my SSD & HHD if that matters) and the other end plugs into a USB 2.0 header. The fans are plugged in sequential order 1>2>3>4>5>6.
Here's the weird part, the fans do not light up. I updated iCUE to the latest firmware today, sometimes it would light up, but 95% it wouldn't, I was messing around with the settings and sometimes when I set my fans to "SP120 RGB (non pro series)", it would light up but I wouldn't be able to control the lighting at all. Then a restart and it's all gone, back to square one. I'm super frustrated, am I missing a component to power these lights? I even checked my power supply cable, switched 2.0 header ports, even swapped out the Lighting Node Core to see if that was defective. Nothing is working, please someone shed some light on this.
My specs:
R7 3800X
Gigabyte X570 Aorus Master
G.Skill 32GB TridentZ 3600MHz @ 16CL
Sapphire Nitro+ 5700XT
Seasonic Gold Prime 850W PSU
DeepCool Castle 360EX AIO
Lian Li O11-Dynamic
EDIT 1: So I got all the lighting to work on the fans. I just unplugged all and restarted and went one by one. In iCUE my fans only work when its set to SP RGB SERIES Fan even though mine are SP RGB Pro Series. Whatever, but the weird pard is that the LEDs are all wonky, all fans are flashing difference colors when I use Rainbow shift but one fan. The one fan does it correctly, the rest are not correctly colored unless I put them all to white LED. Even certain static colors don't match, for example I tried yellow and 3 of the 6 fans are yellow, the rest are magenta and other random colors.

EDIT 2: I swapped out USB headers, did not work. I swapped out lighting node core, did not work. I did test each fan individually and when they're plugged into port 1, every effect works normally. Any fan plugged from Port 2-6, they all flash/flicker so I know it's not a fan or LED issue. So fan#1 plugged into port#1 works fine. Fan #2 plugged into port #2 flickers. But if I switch the ports from Fan #1 to port #2 and vice versa. Fan #1 would flicker and Fan#2 would work flawlessly. And its not a lighting core issue because I did the same with a brand new lighting node core, same symptoms. But what's the cause of this? I even tried to plug the lighting hub core into a separate SATA cable for the PSU. Still didn't resolve the flickering when I set a pattern.

Hi All. Building my first desktop today and I cannot get the fans to spin. I understand the SP120 RGB Pro fans have 2 connections/cables with them. One goes into the lighting node on the back, but where does the other cable go? I have 6 fans in total.

Any help will be greatly appreciated!
Hi all!
I am still relatively new to building PCs and I am helping my little brother out on his first build. He bought a 3pack of fans and we plugged each fan header into the lightning node core. Then plugged the Core’s usb into the motherboard and then to a SATA power supply. When we turned it on, the RGB was working but the fans weren’t spinning.
I was wondering why this is the case? Each fan has two cables, one that plugs into the Core, and then a three prong cable that we don’t know what plugs into. It can’t go to the sys fans because those are four prongs so it makes me wonder if we need to get a fan hub in addition to the core.
Any help is much appreciated!
Hello!
This is my first pc build. So I started up my pc and booted everything okay. My three sp120 fans ( 2 located on top of case and the other on the back. I bought the Corsair 4000x. I have a asus z-390-e mobo. The rgb is plugged into the rgb headers and the fans are plugged into the fan controller that came with the case. I do not know what to do. Or how to fix it. Any help would be appreciated!
Thank you!
It comes with a lighting node core, it's a rgb hub and rgb controller in one unit. Does not do fan rpm. I would connect the rgb fan wires to the node core and get the fan power from the mobo fan headers. What is your fan issue my man? Edit - never mind my last question, I just learnt to read.
The rgb should've been plugged to the controller in the case and the other cables to the mobo's fan headers.
I hope your fans are still okay.
I recently purchased the corsair SP120 RGB PRO and have plugged the fans into the lighting node core, the fans light up and i can control the lighting effects through Icue, However the fans do not spin and i cant see how to make them spin. My motherboard that it is plugged into is a Asrock 570x phantom gaming 4
Which header have you plugged the fan in to on the motherboard. There are a few that look like fan headers that are not fan headers. Unlikely you've done that since that usually shorts something and stops you booting, but I've seen it happen.
The Rgb cable on the fans ( 4 pin) connects to the Core the 3 pin Cables connect to the mobo fan headers, use your mobo fan software or bios to control the fan speeds , these fans are not PWM so switch to DC mode in bios if you have the option otherwise the fans will run at full speed.
Hey Guys,
So I submitted a ticket recently and wanted to post here if anyone has had this kind of issue before. I have the 460x rgb case and have added 3 more sp120 rgb fans to the top and rear exhaust. Computer still running great but I just noticed that one of my top exhaust fans was not spinning. The lights were on so it was getting power from the hub. I checked my motherboard fan slot and it was fine, I even tried plugging it into other fan slots on the motherboard and it still did nothing. It would try to spin at bootup and give a half spin then do nothing. However if you give the fan a slight push it will start spinning but only spin at about 300rpm. I assume this one fan is faulty because all my other SP 120 RGB fans are working great. Pretty annoying since I've only had this PC built for 2 weeks.
