November 10, 2017Can't figure out how to use iCUE
If you want it to save to onboard memory to have that lighting effect without icue running Open icue, select keyboard , select device settings , clear all onboard memory, select hardware lighting and select your preset effect, select device and save in slot one, repeat the process for the other 2 slots, go back to dashboard and exit icue. your 3 default hardware profiles should work when icue isn't running now. My God, this thing is garbage... It glitches out constantly and is driving me nuts.
On system start up it recognizes my mouse, keyboard and polaris pad when it wants. Same for all my keyboard and mouse macros.
I've tried numerous times already uninstalling/reinstalling to the latest software version, which is 1.22.83. It's merely a temporal fix before it starts to crap out all over again a few days later. It's tiresome having to do this and I shouldn't.
At start, I gave Corsair the benefit of the doubt because of the broken Windows Meltdown patch that broke my audio drivers. Forcing me to reinstall everything.
If you guys have any suggestions or currently going trough this ordeal well, I'm all eyes. I have quite a few macro profiles and is painful to not be able to use them in games when you get accustomed to it for months.
Thanks in advance for reading and sorry for my rant. It's frustrating.

Well, now with several crashes every day, it has reached new lows. Seriously, The UI/UX is about as painful to use as I've ever seen for this kind of software, it is convoluted beyond a failed design: I honestly think someone tried to make it tedious on purpose. Simple things as changing the lighting of one key is frustrating (must hold "CTRL" otherwise it will reset everything else! obviously... not). Simple things as changing the mapping of a key require so many useless steps, it's mind-numbing. Behaviors are inconsistent. Intuitiveness is absent. It's dreadful. The application is coded without regard for any Windows standard, it's just bad. Auto-update installers have weird names (like ejkg249sp.msi or whatever), so you have to really be confident when clearing the UAC prompt. It crashes, too often already, for as long as I've had it (2015), and now it's about every day several times a day. Sometimes, without reason, the auto-update won't give you the latest software, you have to download it manually from the website. On a rating scale of 0 to 10, I wouldn't give CUE more than half a point, if even that. Many open-source or indie projects, let alone paid software, are just much better in every respect. Here's the thing: I'd love to tinker with my keyboard, but the software is so bad that I actually try to limit my tinkering as much as I can because I know I'm in for a world of pain every time I have to change anything about it. It's that bad. It makes me want to refrain from using the features of the keyboard. I don't know who approved this CUE software, any version of it (v2 is actually worse than v1 which was bad enough already). But that person should be fired, they're responsible for ruining the whole experience and rendering the hardware features unusable. Not to mention the LEDs are either not smoothly changing color, or (in "16.8 million mode") flickering and hurting my eyes. It's just ugly. I suppose that's not Corsair's fault directly (Cherry?) but it just looks bad I'm sorry. Not worth the $200+ price tag. The only redeeming point of this keyboard are the mechanical keys, Cherry MX, which are available on a number of other products. I will strongly recommend that people not buy any Corsair peripheral, because of the awful software that goes with it. I've had this K95 RGB for about a year and a half now, and I'm done. Disappointed by Corsair is putting it mildly. I'll sell it asap and buy another keyboard from a brand who knows how to make decent, proper software.
